I have a completely stock 2000 I4 single cab tacoma with a steering wheel that shakes violently ONLY at 65-67 mph. Otherwise drives smooth. Truck was doing this ten years ago when I bought it at 88k miles and hasn't gotten better or worse now with 320k, but it has finally gotten annoying enough that I come to experts to find out the problem. Any ideas?

Jack it up and check all your steering & suspension joints. Pull the wheel from top and bottom, inside and out, and then side to side and check for loose play in any of the joints. You likely have some worn suspension components that need to be replaced. If you haven't done so already, it's about time to replace your ball joints while you're under there.

Have you ever had the truck on an alignment rack? Do your front tires wear evenly?

ball joints seem ok. truck's been aligned once with no effect on the shaking. tires have always seemed to wear fairly evenly
