Access Cab Rear Seats in a Double Cab

Was wondering if anyone has gotten a wild hair and tried to put access cab seats in a double cab?

 

Anyone?

 

I'm going to take a guess that 99% of the people that look at this thread are thinking Air Conditioned seats...

I knew what your original post was, but sorry, it is too hard to say. While the structural back wall might be the same, the floor appears different from some of the threads that I have seen. So, the bottoms might not deploy properly. Attach points many or may not be there. Seat belt buckle anchors might be a problem?

My guess is that your are going to have to pioneer this one. You will certainly get more knee space compared to the DC seats and maybe more head room? Definitely more room when stowed.

It’s probably going to boil down to the anchor points on the back wall. Here’s a picture of my Access Cab back wall when I was installing sound deadening material.

 

Curiosity has me wondering here - what are you trying to gain? more space to put stuff?

 

Smaller seat space / more leg room between back and rear seat.

 

I hope you figure it out. It is an intriguing idea.

 

Have you ever sat in the back of an access cab?

The seats are basically jump seats, and even with more leg room they are not remotely comfortable.

This is true -- they are worthless as far as comfort. I know --I have them

 

My kids are still in booster seats. Want to see if they get a bit note leg room and aren’t always kicking the back of my seats.

Not to bitch, but if the taco had 3 more inches of leg room in the back it would be unbeatable.

One more consideration- the rear sliding window power mechanism will prevent a true plug and play conversion to the jump seats I think.

 

uhm. It is possible to teach children...many grow 3 inches taller eventually.

 

Are those jump seats okay to install boosters on? It’s a neat idea, interested to see where this goes

 

I loved my access cab, but we couldn’t fit my daughter’s car seat in the back with a passenger. Planned to trade up for a DCLB, but I was disappointed to find that there wasn’t a whole lot more room for the car seat. Ended up with a 4Runner for that reason, but not upset about it.

Just miss that truck bed for hauling lumber!

 

I’ve seen guys have kids in their access cabs before. Don’t see why it wouldn’t be an issue as long as the seat belts are bolted to the body.
