No kidding? Cool rig, but not $12k cool. At least for me.

Edit: no bench seats, but some plumbing. Maybe a small food vendor in another life?

Ive seen them set up as fire trucks. In Japan at least. Not sure how common that was for the number of them built or anything though.

My google-fu says that it says "fire" on there, plus it's all red. Prob some support fire truck. They have some cool ones over there that my kid fawned over when we were there the other month.

Easy peasy, just mash that thar pedal on the right down til you start to hear expensive sounds :)

There's a rock quarry off of Mosquito Lake Road that is fun to play around in.

542 East, right onto Mosquito Lake Road, Left onto North Fork Road, gravel pit is on the left:

    https://www.google.com/maps/place/N...90362bf4a9756!8m2!3d48.8958408!4d-122.1096629

Lots of shooting and shooting detritus around. Most people set up facing the river but every now and then you get some moron that sets up towards the road. There are some long steep hill climbs and some shorter less steep hill climbs. It's a good place to play around with 4wd. I try to stay away from the river side of the quarry as that's where most of the broken glass tends to get collected.

It’s commendable to ask for some guidance to avoid a bad situation. I’ve run into too many folks out there who don’t know how to use their equipment or are woefully unprepared for what they encounter. I get back in that area of the country in a week. Slide into my PMs and we can meet up!

When I was in Joshua Tree last year we came upon a dad and his son walking down a trail that was 10 miles from any major road in the park. If you’ve been there, you know there is zero cell service in the park so calling for help wasn’t an option. It was 100° and they had a half gallon of water to split. Turns out they popped 2 tires (one being their spare) about 4 miles further up the trail and planned to walk to the road and ask for help. We gave them a ride back to their truck (2WD Nissan pickup with no tread left on the tires) and ended up putting 5 plugs in one tire and 2 in the other And took his front tires and swapped to the back since he had a little more tread left on those. Aired him up, gave them some food and water and escorted them 14 miles back Down the rocky trail to the highway. As we watched this dude drive, he was just gunning it to get over sharp rocks and boulders, and we had to stop him and teach him how to pick lines and strategically traverse the terrain. Got them to the road safely, but it was quite the detour and learning experience for everyone. Air compressor and tire patch kit should be in everyone’s vehicle.

Oh, you don't have to start the fires. They (we:() do just fine on their own. It's kind of like watching a train wreck. Usually, I just crack a cold one and watch the fireworks.

You could get super weird and go into the X-runner/street truck threads. I’ve never stepped foot in there.

Usually it takes a few cold ones for me to build up the courage to scroll through there. I just don’t understand what changed in a few years of truck owners. Perhaps it’s like some political views, and only the extreme are the ones who are heard?:notsure:

I don’t know much about that section which means they probably don’t have much useless BS like the 3rd gen thread.... I won’t mess with a good thing.

I’m not a shit starter anyways, I just find when I’m drinking I have more input than when I’m not (drinking or not my input is absolutely useless)

I’m just here for a good time and some fun meet ups. And with meet ups being mentioned, is anyone interested in a snow run/Christmas tree run? ( non-demonational holiday tree run?)

I think a lot of it is the "I want to be cool and go camping (AKA Overlanding) so I can get likes on Instagram" crowd. Or all they've ever driven are cars then they decide that they need a truck for some reason and complain when it acts like a truck. I do have to say that the majority of the people in there aren't that bad. I think you nailed it on the head about the people who take it to the extreme. The ones that are pissed off at Toyota for some reason and can't let it go so they hound on everything.

In all seriousness, toss me into the PM as well. I'm around pretty often and it probably wouldn't be bad to get out and stretch my legs a bit.

If you're interested in professional training I can put you in touch with a group that does 4x4 training for law enforcement and SAR groups along with people just wanting to learn more about driving.
