Dammit. I was going to not bother getting a lift. Now I have to, didn't think about the breakover advantage. How much lift do I need to offset the extra wheelbase? 6"?

I agree they have pretty limited tread-life. We run the LT version on our Full-Size trucks at work and they seem to have deeper tread and a harder compound than what comes on the Taco

The Colorado actually came with the same tires. I was skeptical at first, but not bad wear on mine for about 35k. However, I’d still replace with KO2s or Open Country just because those have both proven themselves to me over time.

2-3" of lift + skid plates + rock sliders = leaving short beds in the dust offroad.

Why does there need to be a reason? More than anything else, I’m certain it’s because it wouldn’t be as popular as the short bed. If they thought they’d sell a bunch of them, it wouldn’t matter what performance compromises needed to be made.

I too am willing to put up with the “ugly and weak capabilities” professed so often by those with short bed equipment.

TW cracks me up. All this Pro talk and silly faux facts from folks with faux sliders or steps in their DIY Pro builds.

I am not sure if this is true or not but I was informed when looking for Tacoma to maybe lift and do trails to get the OR over Pro as it is easier to lift due to the Fox shocks...

Interesting. Pretty easy to throw out stock parts. Hard part is installing better ones well.

It did not make much sense to me at the time, but as I had no factual evidence to dispute the claim I let it ride. I was looking for the OR anyways.

It makes no difference. If you’re lifting it with aftermarket suspension it will be the exact same removal and installation process between an OR and Pro.
