i extended my harness by about 5' and used 18 ga pure copper wire and have great clarity, no different from stock. i soldered all connections, used dielectric grease and heat shrink on each connection, there are 4 wires

Have you used the SSO one? I was told by SSO their bracket wouldn’t work with a Tacoma. I’m trying to verify before buying one.

    IT NEVER ENDS..........
Relocated backup camera tonight without cutting anything. Just took it out of tailgate and ran back under truck and ran up by rear passenger light and mounted to license plate bracket on the rigd ultraswing. Worked perfectly.

Read through all the threads and was like wait a minute so when i got Home i took It all apart and rerouted it and bam works better then the original mount in tailgate. Rear tire carrier is within 1-2 inches of red line. Time for a beer.

@ragofabrication when you guys making a camera relocation bracket?

Had the same problem with my rear tire on my C4 HC swing out, so I made a simple bracket in Sketchup and had it laser cut out of ABS for about $12.00.
I can have more made or simply share the file. Hit me up if you'd like it.

Have any more pictures from different angles or exactly how you attached it? I’m interested, just wondering where I’d attach it to my sos bumper.

It has three simple bolt holes so it will attach wherever your bumper will take it - the C4 has a line of holes along the table hinge.

I can always remove the holes from the 3D file and you can print it without and drill your own for custom mounting.

Solid work I like that. Could you make a hood piece that covers the camera to help with rain on the connection?

The file is made to be cut out of flat stock (metal/plastic), so a hood would require hand-bending a piece of flat stock to cover the camera. My camera has been uncovered for close to two years and underwater a few times - still doing great. Let me know if you want to explore it though - I' always down for trying something new.

mine's been okay so far. I haven't been bothered to wrap the plug or even extend the wires. I just unplug it and use the swingout as needed.

Same. I have a base model so a while back I had changed out my stock handle with a pop-n-lock locking tailgate handle with a back up camera. Id assume the camera mounting is about the same internally. But I mounted mine to the license plate bolt as well.

Bringing this thread back to life. Has anyone ran wire inside the swing arm and down through the hinge where the bearings are? I am running wire for both the rear camera and CB antenna. Has anyone done this?
