I guess I was missed informed about the 20K service thinking it would be free at that mileage count but did not realize there was also a time period which it must meet which ever came first. I think the service guy said 30 months (not too sure) which had past so the dealer was going to charge me $190. I told him that's ok and I will do it myself which he then told me he was going to see if the Manager would waive that requirement which to my luck they did. Thankful for today but just wanted to pass along the info.$.02

It’s free, not including the oil change. You get two free oil changes every 10k, and free 5k “visual inspections” up until 25k. All this needs to be done within three years of original purchase date I believe, or it may be 2 years.

It was my experience the free service(s) were just oil changes. The 30K service was an expensive oil change. Fluid change (for diff(s), transfer case, transmission), MAF cleaning, spark plug replacement was all performed myself. The dealer also never greased the drive shaft.

They did replace the cabin air filter and engine air filter at 30 K.

It’s 24 months. That includes 2 oil changes (10 & 20k) or a lesser interval if you don’t drive enough.

Just want to say, never listen to a salesman on programs like this. However, they should have given you a pamphlet or the info is published online to clarify the details.

Also includes that high dollar tire rotation, that they often don’t do

Probably best they don't do it. Most of them will use a worn out, regular socket on an imapct, and give no respect to your wheels.

Which is how I got new stock wheels on all 4 corners.

also got the name of the tech that has the protective sleeve and has a reputation as the go to guy, so there’s that too

I had one of our Rav4 wheels refinished because of scratches. Then I found out one of the guys in our motorcycle group is a lube tech. He is now the one that touches my truck and the wife's Rav4.

What is involved with MAF cleaning ??

How much of a pain was it to drain and fill the transfer case and transmission?
Saw video of having to get the trans temp to 105 to check it properly.

I do all my own service I'm at almost 25k on my 2016.

I like to be in the know, I don't take my vehicles to the dealer.

Didn’t read whole thread but the local dealer I bought from offered free oil changes and tire rotations for 4 years or 50k miles. Also offered the warranty for life to where anything goes wrong within the drive train it’s covered at zero cost to me 100% of the repair as long as I own the vehicle. Mileage is unlimited.

I think it’s 120k or something like that. At my 30k service they changed mine and then realized it wasn’t required until 120k or what ever it is. The best part is when they called to tell me they screwed up and didn’t need to change them, however my differentials now needed servicing.

MAF cleaning is a $7.00 can of MAF cleaner, not to be confused with carb or throttle body cleaner. My MAF comes out by removing a few screws and an electrical connection. Real gently remove MAF and spray off dirt and grime with liberal amounts of MAF cleaner, let it air dry and replace.

Transfer case isn’t too bad, with only 25k miles on your truck the fill and drain plugs should come out with only some mild language. As always remove fill plug first. Drain and replace plugs, fill until it drips out the fill port.

Transmission requires some special tools. Hex wrench for the fluid level plug. I think (off the top of my head) the fill requires a 22mm socket. I just do a annual drain and fill w/Valvoline MaxLife. I use a Scangauge II for the temperature readout.

Use proper torque. Suggest purchasing crush washer kits off Amazon.

It's right in the glovebox owners manual, however I do think the 4 Cylinder has a spark plug change of a longer interval than us V6 guys.
