I got ~1650 for my rear bumper. I had BSM, don't know if that matters or not. I replaced it with ATH high clearance with swing out.

Price it out from a dealer. Body shops pay less than retail...

best way to ESTIMATE what you MIGHT get.

this can be tricky as majority of crash damage is required to be repaired as it came from factory... if financed that is. Your loan is for how the vehicle was purchased and that is how the bank wants it kept in case of repo.

best thing to do is ask your insurance co if it is ok to put an aftermarket part on in lieu of OEM.

Whoa. Financed or not. It is YOUR truck. That's like saying you cant do renovations on your home if you have a mortgage on it. Ridiculous. Finance companies dont care what you do with it. As long as you're paying your payment.

My run in with insurance and aftermarket parts went pretty smooth. I took my vehicle in, they priced out everything, then I told them to fix everything except for the bumper itself. I then took the remaining cash, threw in some of my own money, and put the bumper on myself. They didn't want to touch an aftermarket bumper, so I had to do it myself.

Financed is not ownership, the BANK owns the truck. It is called secured collateral. The bank dictates what is what. Which is why the Insurance check is paid to the shop, not you.

    ownership means title in hand.

houses are different rules and laws, apple to oranges.

That same "ownership" applies to homes as well. Doesnt make a difference if it's a house or car. Bank holds title till balance is paid. But does not "dictate" the vehicle just because of said fact. If balance is being paid on time, that vehicle belongs to the driver who is financing. When that said driver fails to pay. THEN the bank will "take ownership" of that vehicle. That's why it's called collateral. It's the money that is the factor till theres no longer money being paid.

Also. There are MANY cases of insurance payouts going DIRECTLY to owners with financed vehicles for repair

    I wish that were true,
I have a certain experience with this as part of my life was an insurance agent and as a full service mechanic specializing in insurance repairs. The bank holds the note, they own the vehicle, the insurance ensures the vehicle is secured in case of loss, let your insurance laps and the bank can take the vehicle back...

there is so much more to this. Houses can’t be stripped for parts or hidden usually, rules are different for fixed physical property.

you can ask the insurance finance company if aftermarket parts are ok, some will do it at it saves money. If your vehicle is totaled, who owns the aftermarket parts? Not you, the insurance does, which is why you keep the old parts, unless you have title in hand and no liens you are borrowing the vehicle.

a house is a different set of rules and procedures. Way more confusing and to long to write.

plenty of LEGO’s law on you boob and on google bout this. All say talk with you insurance company first as some don’t care and will do it.

Nope, 100% correct. Was once an agent, and I have dealt with this for 20+ yrs financed is borrowed, owned is paid off.

It isn't the same in all states. What applies for you, doesn't apply for many others.

Insurance absolutely has control over what parts are used on repairs made on their dime. Why is this even a conversation?? Lol

Nope. Each time I’ve needed a repair done they wanted to use aftermarket or like used parts and I said bullshit and they paid for brand new oe direct from the dealer new parts.

I got 1300 ish when I got rear ended and ended up with the aftermarket bumper of my choice. Their insurance company just wrote me a check and sent me on my way.

Right. You both have a say. Neither side can slap anything they want on if the other side has a valid objection.
