“Cheap at Twice the Price” when it comes to quality stuff. If it’s crap your just going to end up spending more in the long run.

I agree. Forums great for asking questions as part of the research. I’m referring to those who just post “what 3” lift is best” without giving info on their budget or uses or anything else

“Buy the best quality you can afford.” I think that one covers it. Maybe “buy the best quality you can ethically afford” is better.

Unless you are some sort of counter-culture type that buys whatever isn’t normative or mainstream; in that case, buy whatever bothers people or makes you happy (or both).

When there options to a purchase, I try to buy one version beyond my needs as a just in case. With the Taco, I wanted to be able to haul and tow with the least amount of options. So, I got what I got. It has done great so far.

I just noticed that on the fruit of the loom t shirt set, walmart will deliver for $1000.00! That was a horrible example of buy once cry once! Great example of reading the fine print though!

Depends on what it is. Expensive cars are a waste of money but if they are in budget and priority we still get them. Expensive watches are fucking stupid. I’ve heard (from a friend) that cheap hookers are good value. Tap water is virtually free to drink.

"Cry once, buy once" Sounds like something one buys but can't really afford, IMO. I'd hate to live like that.

I think the buy once cry once theme is being taken out of context. The intent of that statement is to say that you shouldn’t buy less than you need in an attempt to save money. That’s when you’re underserved by what you bought, and end up spending more to get what you needed.

"Buy once, cry once". I have never understood this! I don't cry when I buy something I want, never. Not at all. If I upgrade later, I don't cry then either. I think this saying is weird.

Cars are very rarely a worthwhile investment.
Watches hold value if they are purchased correctly in the first place. Some can easily qualify as investments.
The hooker is cheap, the medical care afterwards is where they get ya.
I dont drink water, fish pee in it.

My wife does the complete opposite. When I show her the thing I want (typically cost more) and the thing I don't mind having (settling for because it's cheaper); she tells me to buy the one I want because I won't be happy with the other and end up having to sell it and buy the one I originally wanted in the first place.

I would say this is pretty accurate for me. I do a lot of research before I buy. Find the quality product within my price range and pull the trigger. The wife's motto is "you get what you pay for" so when she see's how much it is I tell her would you rather have me buy cheap easy to break parts? That usually gets her to cave lol.

Eh, it depends. I have bought $2500 guitars with no regrets but balked at iPhone apps that cost $3.

To me it’s more about value than cost. I don’t want the cheapest or most expensive option in most cases. But I almost always want the best value.
