    Ewwww the anti-enthusiast!!

Not everyone experiences traffic and not everyone drives to work. I do neither!

    Sleeping... drinking... sounds lazy.

Well. In any case, it's a little silly to get out of your truck like that.

My luck, and the shit would total itself... super slowly

You're right. These AT praising, Father Musk worshipping, autonomous vehicle adoring zombies have been tricked into giving up what makes them human. No more work, no more struggles. Everything will be better when we let go and do nothing but consume.

    NO!!!!!!!!!

The entire culture is moving away from living and doing. It's about interacting with these goddamn screens as much as possible. It's almost as if we're being programmed and forced into giving up control.

The truth is (and I say this with full consciousness of OP's original post [and with my tongue somewhat poking my buccal mucosa]):

Manual transmission drivers are throwbacks yes, but they are also revolutionaries. We will NOT be herded. We will NOT grow complacent. WE WILL FIGHT FOR OURSELVES AND FOR ALL OF YOU WHO ARE ALREADY LOST, STRUGGLING AGAINST THE POWERS OF EVIL THAT SOURROUND AND ENGULF ALL OFF US, COMPELLING US TO GIVE UP OUR SOULS!!!

We will PUNCH with our oversized right arms, we will KICK ASS with our giant left legs.

We will not give up. We will never surrender (our shift knobs). We are not vegan, crossfitting, essential oil peddling, pilot-engineer, avocado toast eaters.

We are heroes and we aim to save your very souls

I'm not high. I did get into some top shelf Mescal....

Thank you for the complement on my perceived youth. I don't get that much.

Also, I'm right and you know it

But you’re not right... My first 4 vehicles were manual transmission. They were cool. The last 3 were automatics. But I also played with toys when i was a child, & like most people, i grew up & learned that you will never progress if you allow yourself to live in the past. That’s what memories are for; to remember... My ex-girlfriend always brought up old shit too. You remind me of her. But here’s what i told her, & i hope it helps you... “get over it, woman. It’ll be ok.”... Good luck, buddy

PS: "tongue in buccal mucosa" = "tongue in cheek" = I'm kinda fucking with you...

But I don't think I'll get over where things are going. I'm not talking politics. I'm talking about shit George Orwell predicted. We're losing our humanity. That's real and we need to fight it. Now I'm funning when I say folks driving manuals is going to help. That's silly. But we're in trouble, son

I’m fucking with you too, dude... Well, it’s “technically” the tequilla, lol... but i do agree with the “Orwellinan” aspect of it all , but i’d bet that he never intended it to cover manual transmissions. Just a guess... :D

I predict a day when there will be no actual Tacomas, only screens and TacomaWorld.

    Right on!

Something about driving a manual really appealed to me. Probably because I learned during one of the best times of my life (15-17) and have great memories of those years and driving around a lot... teaching girls how to handle the stick... ;)

Then when I grew up and got a job with a 45min one-way commute, the manual saved me from wanting to drive right off the side of the bridge every day. Winding up to 8k at the push of a pedal and flick of the stick woke me up in the morning!

Now, with zero commute and no real excuse to drive (minis school/daycare drop offs), I’ve settled into my as-needed tacoma and love still getting to row them around town.

I’ve been saving up for my midlife crisis car. Can’t wait to have another manual in the fleet. Hoping the next 86 is still offered with a manual and/or that the Supra becomes offered with one.
