ARB Air Compressor -- Single vs. Dual

About to purchase an ARB compressor and was wondering what the consensus is regarding single vs. dual for tire inflation duty as well as a potential front air locker in the future. I will not be using air tools so that is not an issue. I have a gift card to the vendor that I will be using and they only carry ARB so we're talking ARB only here.

A couple specific questions:

• Tire size is 255/85/16 (33") and I will not be going bigger. Is the single sufficient to air up a set of 33s from 15psi to 35psi or am I going to be standing around for 20+ minutes to get this done?
• Can you use the "portable" compressors as onboard air in the future by removing them from the plastic box they come in and installing them permanently? The portable units seem like they fit the bill best at the current moment as they will be for tire inflation only and come assembled and ready to go for that purpose but I do want the option of using them for air locker duty in the future if necessary.

Sure thing! He breaks both down for you so you should be able to get a good idea of what will work best for you.

 

Single works great for most tires up to 35 inches. (Of course the larger the tire the more time its going to take to fill it) The dual is just a faster version about 1.5 times as fast. But much bigger. The single is a great price and works very well for me and my 33 inch tires 285's. Takes about 1.5 min to air up about 20 psi

 

Went with the dual and SLEE mount. I waited around way too long airing up after my last wheeling/camping trip and when you’re that hung over and just want to hit the road....the extra couple hundred bucks made perfect sense.....

 

scuba tank for the tires, small comp if you go for air locker(s).
