    Went to test drive a 2020 off road with leather. Told them they didn't have a color I wanted. They are doing a dealer trade to get a Voodoo blue for me. I always dread the finance part because they try to push everything on you. She told me you can get a warranty if you want. not a lot do because Toyotas last forever, if I want the tire protection here is a brochure and gap costs $1000 or X amount a month. I declined everything and said I might consider gap. That was it. No "but what if..." no "I can discount this or that".

    anyway I hear horror stores all the time and this was furthest from that

    I know.. cool story bro..

    The finance guy asked if I wanted extended warranty, asked him if he had any faith in this pos. We sat in silence the rest of the time.

    My Tacoma is the only vehicle I've ever purchased from a dealership. Apart from a bit of mild "well let's work on getting the payment you want" stuff which I snuffed out pretty quickly, I didn't experience any of the stereotypical stealership drama. IMO it's because I came in knowing what I wanted and how much I was willing to pay so they knew they would waste their time pulling a fast one on me. Now, if I came in with wide eyes and looking lost, I could see it completely going the other way.

    makes sense. I had a dealership offer me a price on the same truck but they were 3 hours away. The local dealership offered me 2k above that. I went to lunch and called them and told them to match it or ill drive and get the other one. I really didn't think they would match but they did. I think they knew I was willing to walk if I had to pay more so that's why the finance went smooth.

    Why would you obtain financing thru a dealership as the rates are always higher than dealing directly with a bank.

    Because they aren't "always higher". I got 2.99% on mine and Navy Federal couldn't beat that. Hell, a couple of months later I got a letter saying the rate went down to 2.74%. Hasn't changed since.

    They were .05% higher than my credit union. That’s around 50cent a month or something I think.

    Thank you for sharing a positive story about a dealership experience!

    We have enough threads about the not-so-positive.....

    Probably the only thing I would add is the tire and wheel warranty.
    I've seen it come in handy for customers at the Lexus dealer I work at.

    I got preapproved at my Credit Union and then the Finance Lady at the Dealership beat it between somewhere .25 - .50 percent.

    Lets see if the dealer gives you 10% off sticker price with their “special financing” But yeah 0.9-2.9% 36-60 months never a problem.

    My dealer experience was really good!

    ::Shocked!::

    I know? But they didn't push anything extra on me. Told them exactly what I wanted and they worked hard to get all the boxes checked.
    When it was down to signing paperwork. Asked me if I wanted anything else? "Negative ghost rider. The truck is mine." Got a good laugh and I was out the door smiling cheek to cheek.
