Still doesn't explain them all facing different directions.

Of course we have all seen it dozens of times and there is almost always a few e4’s in the mix. The same ones that never take charge and half ass everything but still complain that no one will send them to the promotion board.

I was either on first floor or at the time had no balcony when I was on 3rd floor...Most are changed over to balcony's as far as I know.

Yeah same here. The barracks are actually pretty nice now. At least where there are new barracks. I’d say the army is at about 60%, the other 40% are still “renovated” garbage.

Only if you don’t submit a plan through the architectural committee for approval first.

If you pack the HOA board with vets...

None of that happened in a vacuum. Japan didn't just wake up one day and decide to bomb us. If you want to understand that, you have to go back at least to Perry. Same with any other war we've ever been in. Korea, Vietnam, etc.

I know I'm getting off topic, but if you want to better understand our involvement in the far East, I'd suggest reading The Imperial Cruise and The China Mirage, both by James Bradley. Nothing just happens. Hell, what we are doing in the middle east now is just a continuation of what the Brits started a long time ago.

Im loving rural life. Horseshoed by trees around the sides and back with twelve acres and a large heated workshop. The situation is perfect except for the fact that it’s in Illinois. We want out of this state but I’m stuck as I’m already deeply invested in the local kidney transplant program and want to just get it over so I can leave healthier and not have to start over at the bottom of the list somewhere else.

I'm the current president of my neighborhood's all-volunteer HOA, and we have a strict "keep it common sense" policy. Don't paint your house pink or put a car on blocks in your front yard and we're cool. Mow your shit in a timely manner because I really don't want to be the yard police - had to do that as a SNCO and I really don't want to again. Most of all, if you have a "disagreement" with your neighbor - I AM NOT YOUR ARBITER. Talk to them. Be a neighbor. I don't care if you don't like each other, I don't care if you think their kids are annoying, I don't care if you don't like how they drag their trash cans. Suck it up Buttercup and work y'all's shit out. I only care that the common areas are maintained, our taxes and insurance are paid, maintenance is performed on common equipment, and that we're not paying an extra $500 a year to pay for a management company to take care of what we're more than capable of doing.

I keep getting unanimously reelected. I've been trying to get someone else to take it over but no one wants to (except that one guy that no one wants to be president because he WOULD take a ruler to everyone's lawn). So rather than let him have it, I suck it up and stay president. We all get along (for the most part) and property values are good. If we don't like a particular rule I call a snap meeting, we meet for 10 minutes in the cul-de-sac, discuss, vote, and press on. Easy-peasy.

Our community across the street has a management company, they pay $100 a month (versus our $150 a year) and have the same amenities.

Volunteer HOAs are the way to go if your board isn't a bunch of assholes. Ours is a vet, a lawyer, and a nurse.

    Y'all's mileage may vary.

My beef with HOAs is that I’d have to live near others.
