I think the fuel has to cool; it's a pressure differential thing.

 

The charcoal canister is only in use when you are filling the tank at the gas station. Otherwise the vapours go into your intake.

 

Yes, but they do use an electric vacuum pump for the test, so I’m not sure why this can’t happen right away, but I’m sure there is reasons.

 

Another note, that little vent hole in the gas cap area goes back to the canister. Never knew that.

 

I think they want it to normalize. If u measure it while it's cooling and contacting it'll be erroneous and might throw the p0456

Yeah. I guess any gas you spill also gets collected by the system.

The fsm came out the same time i started a 1 year long maintenance contract...I did a lot of reading.
