Thanks for the warm welcome and compliment! We're excited to join the TW community.

We believe in quality no matter the cost because our customers aren't willing to compromise when it comes to protecting their gear. We rarely offer discounts or run promotions because we know DiamondBack Covers are worth the sticker price.

With that said, there are a few things in the works for the guys and gals on this forum and we'll be keeping you up to date on this thread.

    Stay tuned!

I have a 16 long. I can only ever seem to find used 05-15 covers. Curious as to how different the fit would be.

2005-2015 Tacoma's beds are drastically different from beds on 2016-2020 Tacomas. The dimensions were changed in 2016, and the tailgate and bulkhead on the 05-15 required special engineering that isn't necessary for the current generation. If you're looking at a DiamondBack for it's theft and weather protection, as most customers are, we'd strongly recommend installing one that was made to fit your specific year, make and model.

What is the special engineering on the 05-15 Tacoma models? Is that just for newer Diamondbacks or has it been that way from the beginning?
I have an older model that I bought secondhand and there is a gap between the top of the tailgate and the seal of the Diamondback.

On mine, there should be a small strip of diamond plate metal running the length of the diamondback cover on the back. It is tacked on. when closed the cover rests on the tailgate.

On 3rd gen Tacomas, the bedrails, bulkhead and tailgate are in the same plane. On 2nd gen Tacomas, the bulkhead and tailgate leave significant gaps. We make up for these gaps by welding additional material onto covers built for 2nd gen Tacomas. If these parts aren't present on your cover, it's likely that your cover was originally purchased for a different vehicle, or the parts were stripped off for installation on another vehicle.

I figured. I bought it secondhand being led to believe it was for a 2nd gen Tacoma. I had a couple different interactions with customer support where I think one guy confirmed it was for 2nd gen and another said otherwise based on the serial #. Google has since gotten rid of the emails so I can't confirm or point fingers. It's been working fine for me though, I don't think I need a super tight seal. I just keep a toolbox in there so I'm not super worried about it being water tight.

Are these gaps too big for a simple adhesive weatherstrip to close up?

I used the weather stripping I purchased from Diamondback. It more than filled up the gap. I have never had rain or hose water penetrate the area.

I have a retractable cover now and I’m getting tired of unclogging the drain plug. Also, water still gets through..not much but enough for me to regret getting it.

this is on my wish list!

Oh damn I saw this too late. Found one for a 3rd gen at a great price, but it's gone now. I'll know for next time though, thanks.

Is water tightness in a car wash to be expected? I’ve had some water come in along the sides after a touch less car wash- not a ton but definitely water down the sides of the bed. I’ve since tightened it up a little now that it’s been on a few months and was just planning on keeping an eye on it.
