Hi, I noticed my left tweeter sounds blown and was wondering if its worth it to get better speakers to replace just the tweeters. If so, would I need an amp or could I get buy just replacing the speakers. I've NEVER seen a stock speaker blow in a car I've owned before. Thanks for any advice.

Many people are doing the Subaru Tweeter upgrade. So thats something worth looking into. When upgrading all the speakers, it all depends on the efficiency of the speakers that you choose/ RMS power rating, it is very possible to see a significant upgrade by just replacing the speakers and nothing else. But many aftermarket speakers require more power than the stock HU can provide for optimal performance and would definitely benefit from an external amp. If you want to just replace your blown tweeter, I have a pair for a 2nd gen if you need them. What year's your truck?

Yeah...Im much more versed in harley audio as I've been upgrading my bike the last few months and am active in a forum geared around that. And usually upgrading speakers with higher ratings means upgrading amps.

I have a 2016 limited. I might would just replace with stocks at this point, but have considered upgrading the whole system sometime in the near future. Thanks!

If you have the JBL system you will NEED to upgrade the amp if you upgrade the speakers. The stock amp will not push enough power to an aftermarket speaker to make it work to its full potential. If you dont have the amp. You'll only need to upgrade the headunit to push that power.

If you are replacing with the stock speaker then none of this applies

Would these work in my model? If so, how much do you want for them?

Well my head unit says JBL and the door speakers have a JBL badge in the grill. I believe the limited do have the upgraded jbl system.

So according to the post you linked, these speakers are a direct replacement and require no amp upgrade. That might be the way to go. Looks like those tweeters are only 70 buck .

I don't believe those will work if you have the JBL package. At least not according to that thread. It says it in bold letters at the top. But I'm not sure what the difference is between the JBL and non-JBL that would cause those to not work. I think I've read that they have different connectors, so if that's the only difference, you may be able to cut the connectors and solder/crimp the wires instead. I would recommend reading through that thread and doing some more research here on TW. I'm sure there are plenty of other threads on the topic

Ah guess I misunderstoo . When you posted that link before, I assumed you meant you knew I had the jbl and they would work. Sorry.

Might do a little more research then before I make a decision. Thanks for all the help!

No prob. Honestly if it were me I would use it as an excuse to upgrade the whole system lol a decent set of components and a small amp should serve you well

Here's a link to my setup:

So my audio ordeal today. Went by a local audio shop looking for just a set of drop in replacements for the stocks. He sold me a set of kenwood excelons. Wish I knew the model. He also sold me some plugs he said would work.

Get home and get the driver side speakers out and or course the plugs will not work. Go back and he gives me some butt connectors.

Get back home, cut my plug off the one speaker. Waste 4 or 5 of the butt connectors before I finally get both wires spliced. Speaker is too big. Go BACK to the shop and another guy confirms oh yeah those won't drop in.

So he swaps out the kenwood for a pair of infinity kappa 20mx speakers. But now looking at them, they have external crossovers I think. So not sure these will work without using the crossovers and not sure I want to mess with trying to find a place to install the crossovers anyway.

This is why I don't mess with audio myself! Nothing is ever simple or just easy. Lol

So wondering if these speakers will work without the crossover . They're rated at 65 rms watts and 195 peak.
