All you need is a heat gun and vinyl wrap. When I first started I went into this totally blind. You just peel and stick to the center, and continually warm the piece as you massage out towards the edge. By your second piece you will have it nailed down perfect. Way more intimidating than it looks

 

/\ tru that...really cheap to do just requires a little patience and your wifes blow dryer (no heat gun needed) . I live in a very hot region so we will see how it holds up with average temps in the 100's.

I bet a few of those pieces were a PITA to wrap.

 

Eh not really, hardest part by far is getting the piece onto your workbench. The radio surround takes a good minute to get off, even if you have the dash removal process mastered already

 

After six weeks of it sitting in my garage I decided to tackle the LC Engineering Header install. Went ahead and replaced the spark plugs too while I was it. Not too bad of an install. Looks, sounds and feels much better than stock.

 

On a much lighter, non carbon fiber related note, I added a homelink mirror to the taco!

 

Added hood pins today. The corners of my hood fluttered around real bad on the highway. Adjusting the rubber stoppers did nothing, so I got these for peace of mind.

Needle bearing worn, got thumping noise when first driving in the morning. Truck is still under warranty, so Toyota would replace with same needle bearing. I would have a small deductible. Decided to go ECGS and pay for it myself. Problem was, I don’t have the right environment or tools to do the job. The dealership did it for me with a 1 year warranty for the following price. I was very greatfull.

 

Alignment came back well within specs. Did a VSC reset by jumping the OBD2 port in the driveway.
Truck is basically level:
23.5" in the front.
23" in the rear.
No vibes...yet but some intermittent "growls" from the front diff. Definitely going to pursue an ECGS bushing swap for the pesky needle bearing. What a PITA!

Good news in the mail today, My letter for frame inspection / replacement finally arrived today . Months after others have received theirs,

Well I guess that I have OCD and couldn't wait for my letter , I called Toyota Corp they assigned an incident number and off I went to get my inspection.

PASSED, thanks to Surfandtruf on this board for applying the Fluid Film .

In a previous post I attached pictures of my frame with Fluid Film applied and how the Manager was impressed with how well my frame looked,

So now that I have the official letter I'm going back to the dealer to see if they need to see the letter for what ever reason they see fit. I do have the sign off from them when they did their inspection . Besides I need to get out of the house for a few hours.

I picked up 20’ of 1 3/4” tubing and cut some stuff gonna start building a bumper tomorrow

 

Haven't seen anyone trim their bumper like that, curious on the results!
