So just recently I have 2 tire sensors acting up. They both read the pressures fine but will throw a tpms light. It seems to happen more often in colder temps. Usually they will go out after a 20mile drive but come on next cold spell. Any ideas?

Have the tires ever been off the rims? Sometimes the sensors can be damaged (cracked) by an inexperienced tire changer. I had one rolling around inside the tire still worked but would act up.

Have you tried to air up to, lets say 35PSI and see if it still does it?

It's not uncommon for TPMS to go off on cold days because cold air is more dense than hot air. Basically cold air contracts meaning less expansion/pressure. Hot air expands, meaning a higher pressure in the tire. In my experience though, it has almost always been associated with a lot lower read out than 32PSI. Usually around 27-28 mine would kick on.

yea I’ve aired em up to check. And I understand the air temp changes pressures. It’s not that cause it’s always the same tires even if they have more air then others

Not sure then. I know some tire shops like Discount Tire and preventative maintenance places offer "TPMS Rebuilds and Test" not quite sure what that entails though.

Might be a good option to look into if no one else here is able to chime in with ideas.

Fill to desired psi on all 4 corners then reset the tpms according to the process in the manual. I bet those two are just set at a level that is too high. i.e. 38 and then lights on at 32.

You need to reset the psi and relearn them , like the post above, simple takes 2 min

    give that a try first

    ■ How to initialize the tire pressure warning system

    1. 1 Vehicles without a smart key system:
Park the vehicle in a safe place and turn the engine switch to the “LOCK” position.
Vehicles with a smart key system:
Park the vehicle in a safe place and turn the engine switch off.

Initialization cannot be performed while the vehicle is moving.

    2. 2 Adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified cold tire inflation

      pressure level. (P. 577)

Make sure to adjust the tire pressure to the specified cold tire infla- tion pressure level. The tire pressure warning system will operate based on this pressure level.

    3. 3 Vehicles without a smart key system:
Turn the engine switch to the “ON” position. Vehicles with a smart key system:
Turn the engine switch to IGNITION ON mode.

    4. 4 Press and hold the tire pres- sure warning reset switch until the tire pressure warn- ing light blinks slowly 3 times.

Vehicles with a multi-information display: “- -” will be displayed for inflation pressure of each tire on the multi-information display while the tire pressure warning system determines the position of each tire.

When position of each tire is determined, the inflation pres- sure of each tire will be dis- played on the multi-information display.

    7-3. Do-it-yourself maintenance 465

    Vehicles without a multi-information display

5 Vehicles without a smart key system:
Wait for a few minutes with the engine switch in the “ON” position and then turn the engine switch to the “LOCK” position.
Vehicles with a smart key system:
Wait for a few minutes with the engine switch in IGNITION ON mode and then turn the engine switch off.

    Vehicles with a multi-information display

5 Drive the vehicle at approximately 25 mph (40 km/h) or more for approximately 10 minutes.
When initialization is complete, the inflation pressure of each tire will be displayed on the multi-information display.

Initialization will take longer than approximately 10 minutes if the vehicle is stopped for a long time, such as at traffic signals.

that’s it. When I rotated and aired up last time I had too much air in the tires. Figured the sensors were set at a psi range and didn’t go from the pressures they are actually at
