How was Engineer with a long bed? Was on it at FJ Summit in July. With my stock short bed I scraped the hitch a few times. That area is amazing. Would love to go back.

I did get hung up on the frame once. Backed up, changed the line and got over the obstacle. The LCAs took a couple of hits as well but that’s to be expected and I don’t count those lol.

I think there are still imprints of where I was gripping the steering wheel on Engineer Pass.

I only scraped a few times but we came up from the East side. We turned back at the summit because of the snow.

Even in late July there were patches of snow taller than my truck. Wild :)

Not sure which side but it was right off 550 and immediately into some challenging stuff. Everyone I was with had lifts and bigger tires. They were telling me the trail was easy. I was thinking there’s no way I’m completing Alpine Loop without leaving pieces of my taco on the trails. Nearly shat myself when the frame got hung up, thought it was the rocker panels.

That's what we did too. I was surprised how techy it was from the start. I'm running 31's but the rest is stock (just got it 3 weeks ago). I banged the skid plate once and dragged the hitch a couple times but nothing gnarly.

I agree with all this. Did engineer pass a few months back in a completely stock DCSB and was puckered up for a good part of it. It gets hairy almost as soon as you get off the road. I managed to get up it with only scraping the front skid once, backing up and picking a different line, but other parts my buddy helped spot.

Love this road, missed you by a few days, I left that Monday after a week camping in that network above the lake.
