Lol. It does. It moves. And can move quite a lot depending on how bumpy the drive is. That’s not even a question. My concern is damage to the rails over time with the continued flex.

It looks like you just have a little paracord or something holding it, why don't you use a tie-down strap (not a ratchet strap) and hook from front mount, over frame, and back down the rear mount? Could be enough to keep it from jostling too much.

The flex has nothing to do with the bike or the mounts. It’s all localized to the bed rail. I can shake the bike and visual see the rail twisting.

 

It’s the mounting rail, utility track, whatever it’s called, and it’s attachment points to the bed that I’m worried will eventual fail. Not the bed cap that’s the problem area.

 

Yep. That’s what I’m getting at. Or just ripping out completely. Lol. I’m going to experiment with some additional bracing to get it where I like it. I’m just not completely satisfied with how much it moves currently. Normal driving is fine, but rough roads make me a bit nervous.

 

Finally replaced my old POS hinge I was using in my swingout for something a bit more beefy and smooth. 4xinnovations makes some really nice stuff. Super easy to weld together, each part fit well and my swingout takes zero muscle to move now. Love it.


Tonight I’ll be welding on my diff armor from Trailgear, better known as a diff diaper.

There really wasn't much room for gusseting in my case the way the tubing converged. I'll take some more pics tonight. Its super sturdy though. I could climb all over it and it'd be fine.

Diff diaper installed! Bought it from Trailgear, wasn’t supposed to fit, but at @singletrack_ftws recommendation I went ahead and bought it. Had to grind down the edges a bit to clear some welds on the axle, but other than that, fit perfectly. Thanks for the recommendation man.

Meh. I’ll just destroy this one first and get it retubed with 3/8” wall tubing. Haha.

You won't be able to get it balanced well. I talked to my driveshaft guys about it. They said they could make one but it's hard to get them to balance out if at all. So we discussed making a more durable one for offroading.

And here I am finally getting on a flex ramp. Those 63s sure do look good.
