FWIW I have had my Rack bolts loosen up on me before.
I would steer away from installing them upside down. Pun not intended.
    Good luck!

So I was able to get the driver side rack bolt without having to cut it. I just removed the 4 compressor bolts and then was able to rotate the rack with the bolt and move the compressor at the same time.

I am currently getting my ass kicked by the factory bushings. The inner sleeves are definitely seized. I was able to remove the inner bushings but now the sleeves still need to come out. I will re-group tomorrow and maybe try to use my ball joint press to press out the sleeves once I remove the flanges.

I’m a cheap bastard. Didn’t buy the special spanner. Used two spanner’s from angle grinders. Straight pimpC1435CDA-B958-4623-BEC5-81809BA415BD.jpg

i bought a full set of new falken wildpeak E rated tires... first trip out in el mirage running 20psi, i got sidewall punctures on both front tires...

what is the most durable tire on the market? i have never had 2 sidewall puncture flats in one day, let alone on brand new tires...

That’s interesting. Lots of people are running that tire with great success.

That seems odd, and e rated tires have stronger sidewalls compared to more other sizes and tires.

I’ve run my BFG ko2’s (e rated) at 10 psi before, and never gotten any punctures.

Does anyone know how far the Rams stick out on the 2nd gen Tacoma rack when it is centered ? I didn't mark my splines when I took my rack out. I thought if each ram was an equal distance out from the housing that it would be centered.

My steering wheel is like 90 deg off. I am thinking that maybe the Rams aren't supposed to be equal distance from the housing in ordered to be centered.

When I replaced my tie rods I made sure they matched my old pair.

I think maybe I need to rotate my steering column a couple splines on the rack.

    Thoughts ??

Rotate the wheel lock to lock and count the times it goes around and halve it? That's how I centered my steering wheel.

I was looking for the rack itself. I guess I can rotate the steering wheel from lock to lock and then measure how far the Rams stick out.

After I put the rack in , I adjusted the Rams to where they stuck out 2.625" from the housing. I thought this was centered.

I then had my wife center the steering wheel while o connected the linkage back to the rack splines.

When I backed out the drive way I notice my wheel is about 90 deg off in order to back out straight. Went for a quick test drive and the truck seems to loose power when I shift to 2nd gear. Also turning right sets off the VSC. So I think I need to adjust where my linkage is on the rack splines and then also do a vsc reset. I basically want to be able to drive to the alignment place... But with the lack of power? And vsc beeping at me it's a no go at the moment.

I made sure my tie rods matched what I took out, so by all else, I think my spline location is off. There isn't much adjustmemt on the tie rods left. Maybe 1/4-5/16" of thread after the jam nut

The wheel should be centered with the rams are equal length. You probably missed on the splines in the lower link between the shaft and the rack, it's a pain in the dick to get it all lined up right and on to the rack.

I just went through the process by centering the rack by halving the lock to lock turn count, making sure the rack was centered (it did measure equal stick out on each side) and made sure the wheel was centered on the rag joint.
