    morning yall,

So I decided to rinse the engine bay before I moved the truck today. Some light dirt and what not came out from under, but there was some oil or grease that also came out. It was very light, very little, but there it was. Im guessing its just some residue oil from the tech and assembly etc, but Im still a little concerned. I let the water hit just about everything including the engine itself. Im just a little concerned that I may have washed the oil from an external component that needs to be maintained lubed up.

Nothing on the outside of the engine requires "external" lube. All the oil needs to stay in he engine or power steering reservoir, you have a leak somewhere or a messy lube tech.

That makes sense, I was just curious about that. Its probably a tech since last time I did this no oil came out. I got an oil change at the dealership and now it happens. Atleast I know they were in there huh

Water in the relays, just unplug it for a few days to dry out. Unplug it at the power source, not the bar itself. Otherwise your still sending power to the relays.

Usually a good idea to not spray water into the engine bay..

Nothing wrong with it, actually. Some stuff shouldn’t be sprayed directly under pressure, but the engine bay is designed to get wet.

Like anything else, proper maintenance includes cleaning and nothing under the hood is excluded.

Tell that to the people with snorkels that do river crossings that go over the hood.

All OEM plugs in the engine bay are sealed for water intrusion. Aftermarket light bars generally are not sealed in the same way.

There's a big difference between having water come into the bay naturally versus spraying pressure on random parts.

This is why I asked before doing it. Multiple people agreed that not using pressure, and doing it while the engine is cold is ok.

I used a normal hose, no pressure other than the usual one the hose has.

Then you should be fine. I guess I thought you were taking it to one of those DIY car wash bays that has pressure hoses lol

Nah, just at home with a hose. I did mention that I did it before moving the truck.

Attention TW member class of 2019: Snorkels aren’t meant for water crossings.

They’re for cleaner, cooler air intake in hot, dry, dusty conditions.

For water they’re merely a piece in a much larger puzzle that allows a higher intake point for air, but a snorkel alone doesn’t do anything for deep water ability.

    Please stop posting nonsense.

If you get water in the electrical, just throw your truck in a bag of rice for a couple of days and everything will be fine.
