Questions about LED drivers

I looked briefly if there was already a post about this and I could not find any that answered this specific question.

I want to change the stock headlight bulbs out of my tacoma. My buddy ordered some on Amazon and didn't like them, they give him his money back and got to keep the bulbs. He gave them to me to try and I read that you may need a driver to match the watts and what not. He has a 4runner and had no problems just plugging it in.

The manual says that the stock bulbs is 60/55W? I am guess that is watts? Ha.

It looks like the W on these are 36 and 36. Does that mean they can plug right in without the driver because they are lower W than the stock? I am seeing anywhere on the item description if they require a driver or not. I know some have one built in.

Any help would be great!

 

Please do not put led bulbs in the stock housings.

For one, Led bulbs are fine, as long as they’re made for reflector (factory style) housings.
What bugs people is a HID bulb, meant for projectors, in a reflector housing. There’s no cutoff and you’ll blind other drivers.

Because they mention additional ballasts they’re probably a Chinese knockoff trying to fit an HID bulb into a 9006 factory bulb connector. They may plug and play but they’re the second case I previously mentioned.

Pull up to a wall or a garage, about 20ft back, plug em in and turn them on. If you see just two big light cones on the wall, you’ll blind other drivers and be ‘that guy’. If there’s a cutoff, they’re fine and they’ll work in the factory bowl.

Thanks for the help guys! I ended up just replacing my headlights with new bulbs and they are looking bright. One of mine had somehow fallen into the socket a bit so the light was pointing in the same direction as the other headlight. I thought I was just dealing with low light bulbs.

 

I did not have led bulbs with that woman

 

If those have a fan on the back of the bulb which it looks like they do, they may not fit in the headlight housing. I have spyder headlight housings and I bought Led’s without the fan and haven’t had any issues
