If my 2016 is parked at a slight incline with the passenger side just above the driver side and it rains my passenger floor gets soaked. I've been in multiple times for this and even went through corporate and got a field service tech on the truck. He claimed he had seen this before and knew how to fix it-something with the cowling. Alas, after a heavy rain this week my floor was covered in water! I've seen this documented on the 2nd gens over here but not much on 3rd gens. Anyone else have this issue?

There is an air inlet on the passenger side for the HVAC under the cowl. Could be lack of sealer around intake.
Is your cabin filter wet? have you checked?

Here’s what it looks like behind the passenger inner fender looking up towards the cowl...yeah plenty of places to trap small debris like pine needles

I have a similar issue, but on the drivers side. Subbed.

I'm willing to bet it's leaking where the cowl meets the windshield. There was a member here who had that happen when going through a certain carwash but in that case the amount of water overwhelmed the drain channel along the wipers and overflowed straight into the inlet. But that was very high volume and pressure water flow. Since it happens with heavy rain, it sounds like it's creeping under that cowl down the inlet. There are some other members here who know more about it as they had to install a metal screen over the inlet to keep rodents out.

Not yet. Waiting from a call back from Toyota corporate. It seems like their voice menu has changed because there were no options for operator or warranty. So I sent them a message over the Interwebs.

I agree. It seemed like this is what they tried to address this spring when the field service tech got into the truck. If I'm thinking of the same post with the metal I beleive I've read that post. It was a second get right?

I saw a thread on a 3rd gen truck. There is a rubber lip seal on the cowl that goes the width of the windshield. Go see if there is a gap there on passenger side.

edit: for shits and giggles you could run a strip of painters tape across the entire windshield/cowl joint and rain on it with the hose.

Ok, good to know about the 3rd Gen. Im awaiting a call back from Toyota corporate on this. My warranty expires in like 2 weeks but this issue has been on their radar for the better part of the last year.

We'll see what happens with them but Im not hopeful and I assume I'll end up having to dig into it myself. I noticed this shortly after buying the truck and for a while just assumed my wife was tracking water/snow into the vehicle. Wish I put 2 and 2 together earlier. Too late for lemon law now!

Got a callback from Corporate and the dealer. I'm dropping the truck off tomorrow and Toyota is sending a field service tech to check it out. They agree that they dropped the ball fixing this the first few times. I relayed my concern is that I'm so close to 36,000 miles and the customer service rep at Toyota explained that the issue is documented well prior to that so if it isn't correctly fixed prior to going over the 36,000 she will get it taken care of.

I'll update as this moves along.

The FST removed the cowling and claims that there was a rubber boot un-mated from the firewall and re-attached the boot. Sounded like BS to me but we've had some pretty good rain since and the truck was dry (so far).

Updating here. On 30 Dec and then again last weekend after rain my floor was completely soaked. The truck just hit over 36k and Im on hold with Toyota care now. I have no faith in either the local dealership or Toyota corporate FSTs now. The Previous Toyota Care Customer Service Rep said since it was documented they would still take care of it if it re-occurred after 36k. At this point with all the problems I've had on this thing I'm sure I got a lemon.
