    Just got these In today. I’ve gotta say this aux box seems well built and is heavier than I expected. Yes I’ve bought box of fuses heat shrink and terminal loop and I connectors and a busman 150amp circuit breaker. I appreciate you all pitching in to help me out here very much. I’ve probably spent close to more in supplies the last week or so than than I could’ve gotten the cheaper spod for to be honest

    I’m completely open to suggestions but I bought a roll of 6/3 gauge wire and two rolls of 14 gauge red and black wire yesterday at Lowe’s. Should I get lower gauge wire in your opinion?

    This is really getting out of hand. The lights are 2 amps each. The KC harness has a 30 amp capable switch and 16 gauge wire with a 15 amp fuse. (can be lowered to 5amp one) We have yet to see where he nicked the wire to cause the smoke. My guesstimate is before the fuse coming from the battery, hence why the fuse "failed".

    Why didn’t you just go through the rubber boot in the firewall that leads directly into the cab? No sharp edges.

    I’m putting a light bar on lower bumperafter ditch lights installed so that’s the reason I’m getting all of this stuff. I’ve decided I’d much rather play it safe than be sorry

    Has it? He bought the lights and harness off a TW member so who know’s what exactly he got. Switch smoked so we don’t know what electrical knowledge this person possesses. It’s a 2017 Truck so we are trying to keep him from setting his truck aflame. Everyone’s skill is different when it comes to electrical. Maybe we just want to ensure he understands the potential (pun intended) to do things right or wrong.

    Regardless of amp draw, everything I run goes through a relay or solenoids.

    My concern is that we haven't narrowed down the root cause. It worked on the ground out of the truck, then toasted a switch once installed. Thats something worth figuring out, preventing, and learning from.

    I agree with you. But we don’t know how he wired it up once installed I. The truck and when I read pulling and tugging on wires I get a little concerned.

    This is why I think some recommendations are well
    Worth it. Get everything in order, lay it all out, have the tools, terminals, heat shrink, etc in place and then tackle the job. A $17 fuse block and $8 relays doesn’t really instill confidence in my opinion.
