Comparing to an F150, the price makes sense. An XL CrewCab with 4x4 MSRPs for $40k. You have to spend another $4.7k to upgrade to XLT for the privilege of spending another $5k for the diesel, plus some other mandatory options, bringing you over $50k. Then there’s the addons you want.

An SR double cab with 4x4 starts around $32k, and after $28k for the conversion you’re at $60k.

An extra $10k is arguably a bargain for something so unique and custom. Way cheaper than a Testarossa.

The only thing I don’t like about my full size diesel is that it is a full size truck with significant offroad limitations compared to my Tacoma. In just about every other way it is better than my Tacoma. It’s more comfortable, has a nicer interior and tech package, gets way better fuel economy and can tow/haul a house compared to a Tacoma. I get about 3000mpg for DEF so it’s about a once a year full up for $20ish.

The F150 would also have rebates lowering that price and have a full warranty while the Tacoma would be getting a used diesel engine and a voided warranty, don't see the value.

Agreed. As much as I like diesels and would love to have a 3rd Gen with one, $30K+ for the conversion, plus the initial cost of the truck is too much for me.......Reminds me of Harley Davidson’s LiveWire electric bike.........I was very interested until they announced the price, now I wait.....

No thanks. Driven hilux’s enough to know, I would never want one to drive on the interstate what so ever.

I just drove a 2019 Prado, which was reportedly where this powerplant came from, for 4K miles. It was magic at 80mph at 1,500RPM and would downshift every once in a while for big hills, and even then only one gear.
