I was using the light bar on the 4runner but when I used it, it was already coming apart so It got broke before I used it. As for the BFH, I didn't do it!

i could use one of your experts best guesstimated estimate on the last time this zerk on the front shaft was greased
a guy in CA said it looks like years since a grease gun touched it but he may have no clue about driving in winter slop and accumulation of said slop
does anybody have a good idea of the last time this was greased during the standard regular oil-lube-filter service, have had 5 of them this year...

I'd assume a very long time, as grease is thick and doesn't normally come off easily. How did the sledgehammer break? I don't know were it was at

Mine look like that between every greasing, which is every 6K miles. I always have to clean them off before I put a grease gun on them.

i just don't know how the lube tech missed this one, its literally right in front of them, looks like he got the others upon strained inspection, he even had to have it in neutral to rotate the shaft he said to get the hidden one in the middle

I would say, if i am guessing with a good idea, looking at grease color from the picture in conjunction with the thickness, which i sm estimating at probably 1/4 to 5/8 thickness, then calculating (estimating) the expected oozing of grease at a rate of 1oz every 3 months, my best bet that the last time it was greased is somehwere between after it was bought and today

do you think that is the kind of answer the service manager will spew once i gather up a dozen years of receipts to show him and then ask him to tell me when the last time they were properly maintenanced?

If i am to guess (estimate) if the manager is in his later years of life ( i.e. 45+) he might smile and tell you just clean it and re-grease. If he is in his younger years he would try to sell you a new truck

he seemed to be in his 50s or so last time i nearly laid into him for the dealer BS around here
i am just trying to avoid premature wear on my drive shafts is all
lack of lubrication might make them wear faster?
new after-market drive shafts are maybe $700 for this truck, perhaps a bit more

If you are trying to avoid issues with things do your own maintenance. It’s the only way to make sure it’s done how you want it.

Yea it's not the dealership's or shops responsibility to grease unless you ask them. That is up to you. I would just clean em and grease em
