I like OVT a lot. The engine works better with and feels like a normal V6.

The 4.30 gearing in the MT is almost the same as the AT on 5.29s. It feel that gear works great on stock tires. Going to 35s would be very not fun with 3.909s, IMO.

Haha that’s the vibe I’ve been getting from reading reviews, trying to do my research on what to get before pulling the trigger on the wheels

i know I'm not a direct part of this conversation but I've been comfortable on my 35" tires being geared at 4.10 but I probably should have stayed at 33" or done more research.

I almost went 4.10 but eventually found 4.30 f&r for my truck. Using a 2018 front clamshell and a 99 t4r rear elocker pumpkin. I should have them next week.

But they're talking about 3rd gen which is way different than the 2nd gen.

Yep, I've seen chains breaking and it's scary. It's like Russian roulette for anyone within a few hundred yards.

It’s called a sky dump. Imagine that same scenario and there was nowhere for the helicopter to land...

It seems like it’s worth getting a Facebook account just to see all these deals. Never had one and It appears I’m missing out on a lot. Although I like the thrill of meeting someone on CL and hoping I don’t get got.

The last paragraph describes a parts truck IMO. $8500 for a 33yr old truck with 400k+ and was converted by some guy in his garage using a 42yr old camper. Half the stuff used for daily driving needs attention. Granted this isn't a daily driver, and it is kinda cool, I just don't see $8500 cool. Should have used a 84/85 truck.

I thought similarly. 85 model with fuel injection and a solid front axle would be perfect.

yeah I saw the list of problems and that seems like a lot of work even if he did redo the frame etc.

Buddy bought a converted 4x4 raider(similar but bigger than the chinook) and has spent quite a bit of money getting things fixed and I imagine it’ll be close to at least 40k when he is done. But complete built out 4x4 sprinters go for 100-120k+.

I was thinking I should get this but after the list of problems + 400k miles it’s gonna be a lot of work to get it where I’d want it.

New SPCs are now $620? Eff that!

I've got "gen 2" SPCs, which means Specride bushings and now the latest, greasable ball joint. Mine originally came with non-greaseable ball joints, but they only lasted 20,000 miles.

If I were to buy UCAs again, SPCs wouldn't even be on the consideration list, especially at $620.....

    All the things!
Between those two, I'd probably go with the Camburgs. Technically, they perform better than the SPC, but really, it would be because of the price.

Honestly, I'd buy the JBA's brand new for $450-$500. They out perform the uniballs, they're simpler to maintain and repair, the parts can be purchased at any auto parts store, and they're red. I actually replaced my Icon uniballs with JBA's. I thought the Icons were bad, but it turned out my sway bar was rubbing.

Really, you can't go wrong with any of them. They'll all most likely out perform your needs. The uniballs tend to be more maintenance, but even then, it's not that much.
