Not sure what you bought, but you will need a special canbus that doesn’t come with the unit when purchased from their Ebay store. Where’d you buy it from?

As far as I know, the harness that comes with the HU is for the non-JBL OEM system. Thus, you should not need an additional harness.

Even if I'm using the factory camera?

This is what it says on the eBay post

"If your car is equiped with the original JBL amplifier and factory camera then you will need to purchase an additional "

That was not the case with what I ordered. Backup camera and steering wheel controls won’t work without the jbl harness, at least when you buy from Ebay. I’m not sure what you get if you buy from Amazon.

good idea, it’s close enough right now it’s only my ocd that’s getting in the way.

My unit is grounded to the passenger side ground point which is why I am surprised I’m getting static. Don’t really know what else might fix it.

Good luck with the install. I’m just in Chester county if you have any questions.

Installed the px5 headunit this weekend. Only issue I have is not being able to use the stock radio once CarPlay is initiated...

Does anyone else have this issue?

    Hey all,

I finally finished my install this weekend. Some quick things: Front camera works great. My unit came with an app called FCAM. Opening that shows the front cam view, and then there's a button on the screen to cycle through front and back. Wiring was simple. Other than the ground, everything connects to the headunit and is labeled as such. I also found a setting that after you shift out of reverse it'll switch over to the front cam for the amount of time chosen by the user.

I ordered the 3d printed brackets. They work perfectly. BUT, be careful how strong you get them. One of my ears snapped off while tightening the mounting bolts. I believe that was at 33% "strength." If you order them printed from Thingverse you'll see what I mean. I'm not worried about it because I can weld the two halves back together or epoxy. Lastly, the cost of the brackets can reach to nutty levels for what they are. Play around with the choices to try and keep the price low.

I do have one dumb question: is there a way to remove the OEM apps off the screens? There's a bunch of garbage on there that I could do without.

If I'm not mistaken, the only way to delete OEM apps, like any Android phone, is to root it. But I could be wrong bc I haven't taken that step and uploaded a rooted ROM yet. Really don't want to end up with a bricked HU lol

Yeah. That would be bad. I had hoped that given the country of origin it was already rooted. Ah well. Thanks.

Another dumb question: Now that I have a USB passthrough that works. Has anyone been able to play music or pass data through USB? My phone comes up in the notification window, but tapping it does nothing. I could also have it connected to the wrong USB.... I didn't connect the singular USB input plug to the back of the radio, just the double. And the phone is connected to one of those.

Works for me through CarPlay. Haven’t tried it without CarPlay. Did you get the adapter that you need to plug in to factory USB ports?

How much did you get your brackets printed for?

I believe only the single usb allows the CarPlay and iPod playback

*other two can playback from a usb drive

The passthrough is the Amazon one I posted a bit back. It's a direct plug in. The headunit OS is picking it up as connected. It should be treated as a drive. At least that's kind of how it works on PC. In the notification tab it says to tap on it for options. I do that and nothing happens. I even tried the file manager and the phone wasn't available. Maybe I should try the single USB plug and see what happens. I'll post back if that works.

The brackets were $50 printed and shipped. It's expensive, but I had already messed up one install kit, and another one would be $40. Soooooo. I felt it was worth the money to save time and frustration. Alternatively, you MIGHT be able to get the build file and shop around for printers. Thingverse has three different printers, so maybe one of them would be cheaper.

When you plug a Android Phone in it defaults to charging, on your phone change it to file transfer, should show up as a "drive" after that. You might have to do that every time you plug in the phone.
