The book is a really good read.

The four of us were dressed in the height of fashion, which in those days was a pair of black very tight tights with the old jelly mould, as we called it, fitting on the crotch underneath the tights, this being to protect and also a sort of a design you could viddy clear enough in a certain light, so that I had one in the shape of a spider. Pete had a rooker (a hand, that is), Georgie had a very fancy one of a flower, and poor old Dim had a very hound-and-horny one of a clown's litso (face, that is). Dim not ever having much of an idea of things and being, beyond all shadow of a doubting thomas, the dimmest of we four

I haven’t read the book, but will take that recommendation.

In regards to the film, in a lot of ways I miss those times. There is so much accessible media now, that you can find anything you can imagine at any time. From completely bizarre, to totally square, all day long. Back in the days of Clockwork Orange, most stuff was square, but then the odd thing slipped through every so often, like A Clockwork Orange, to remind smart people that there was other people out there with weird ideas.

Since we’ve moved on to literature, I’ll add. In my list of truly great Americans, this fella swaps places with George Carlin every so often. Too bad they CIA took them both out. The late Kurt Vonnegut

Nope. Paid roughly 4k more for leather heated seats with no moonroof. (All I cared about)

The rest is just awesome bonus stuff

Yea, I taught myself at 14 by using the excuse "I'll wash the car (68' Galaxy Station Wagon) today for you Dad". Then I would just practice going forward and back.

My previous Tacoma was an auto, 3rd gen, and yes, even after the ECU flash at the dealer, it still hunted for 4th when there was no absolute reason, and yes, the sudden acceleration after the flat spot was a real thing. I learned to accept it and never let it compromise my enjoyment and overall drivability though. Towards the end before it was totaled, I was actually teaching the tranny to hunt less. Yes, that is possible. Overdrive on any incline did seem to struggle to maintain speed. That's the trade off with more gears on a narrower power band transmission. The added weight and rolling resistance from modifications only works to amplify that.

My bucket list still included the OV tune, and then possibly lockers and a regear (OR envy of a Sport owner). Unfortunately I never got to see the difference that would have made.

Now that I'm in the market for a replacement, I am looking very hard at a Green Pro, and against my intuition, the model has a Standard Transmission, or Manual.

The reasons being, I personally don't have any ambition to mod another truck like I did previously. I put two years into that process and during that time, for me, my decision was to wait until the truck was ready to hit the trails with my peeps on here. I knew if it wasn't I would be disappointed and ultimately discouraged. That's a personal thing though and my decision alone.

So with a Pro, even though it's overpriced, it only needs a tank of gas to be trail ready. And some bolt on sliders. The Std Tranny version is just cheaper than the Auto and is money I can use as part of the down payment to bring the monthly payment closer to an equally equipped OR with needed mods to get more on an apples to apples comparison to the Pro. Meaning an OR with the Premium Off Road and Technology package. And even with that your still not getting A/T tires, and the Fox Suspension. There are still a couple other model specific bells and whistles on the Pro not available on the OR no matter what. So combined, those extra mods make the total cost damn near the same.

But trust me, there is only the mighty dollar making my decisions. The Pro is definitely a status symbol but at my age not so much. Green is cool but honestly they should have made it either matt green or metallic.

My second and very very close choice is a Cement LB OR with an Automatic. It has the Prem/Tech packs but I will have to change the tires right away (snow belt here and OEM tires suck, been there done that) and then do the suspension mod, and upgrade the fog lights.

Fortunately I can drive both types of vehicles adequately so the transmission type doesn't matter. However, I've never been off road in a Std so that will be a learning experience. I hope it's as fun as the first time when I was 14.

I test drove an MT and an AT to see which one i liked better and personally i thought the MT felt very “disconnected” and clunky, shifter angle wasn’t great either. The MT’s just aren’t built well on our trucks.

It's a Toyota truck, dude. It's supposed to be a bit wonky. WTF you comparing them to ; a nice clicky Ferrari, or a smooth, buttery BMW, or a perfect in between Porsche manual?

They've always been less than ideal, and if you truly love these trucks, it's part of what ya love
