He’ll need a stand-alone for speed a density tune. Something that has a MAP input.

@Blackdawg is wanting to add sensors the factory ECU could never utilize. he needs a stand alone to make it all work. and honestly a stand alone on these trucks with modern ignition likely would make them even better than they already are (too bad i have emissions or i'd be running a stand alone)

I’m tied up with emissions too,

If Ovtunes does a reflash what exactly is being done that will help the 3.4 motor and will it be emissions approved? Or swap it out every time it needs an emissions

they can change the fuel mapping and alot of other stuff. typically its not emissions legal. but it can be hidden (on new ECUS) not sure on these old ones. time will tell once they manage to crack one. if they can. I have a tune on my 06 avalon.. no emissions issues. raised rev limiter and slight change to VVTI curves.

I don't think you'd need to swap it out...In CA where we probably have it the strictest, they're just checking for fault codes and tail pipe emissions, as well as a visual inspection for anything aftermarket that isn't approved. They wouldn't be able to tell the ecu was updated by looking at it. If they saw a piggyback installed then that would be a problem.

I get by with my 7th injector piggyback having it tucked above/behind the glove box. Just passed smog last weekend.

Don’t they do a visual as well. So Superchargers, turbos, heads, headers, cats, need to be “carb” approved. Even if the emissions are within or below the limit?

Ya that's what I referring to about the visual inspection and anything not being approved, anything aftermarket has to be CARB certified (aka paid enormous fees to the state for certification). When I get smogged they run the carb sticker numbers for my supercharger and headers through their system to make sure they are legit.
The 7th kit isn't CARB so if they caught it I'd fail, but luckily that hasn't happened the last two times lol.

The shiny fuel line is really the only thing that stands out, so I wrapped it in electrical tape. Covered in dirt it just looks like any other vacuum hose in there.

Our emissions is no where near as bad as Cali.
And Indiana taxes are nothin. Lol
Emissions is literally pull up, plug in, have no codes, go home

my upcoming plans for my tacoma this week are to take advantage of some low 50s weather with no snow or ice storms in sight yet
do a little defective paint removal blasting by the front driver side under the door, right behind front mud flap
hopefully the weather will be much warmer than expected so I can get a couple thick coats of extreme primer on the freshly blasted area after zinc phosphate coating
still it is not winter ready with all of the exposed naked steel in spots unknown and flash rust yada yada yada
its been a difficult time competing with mother nature and all that

Have a nagging misfire code. Just did plugs/wires about 8k miles ago, so replaced the coils. I could've moved coils around etc, but just decided to buckle down and do them. Have a small coolant leak as well. Thought it was at the lower hose during the initial look. Ordered new hoses and clamps, but after further investigation, looks like it is coming from the thermostat housing.

New coils, hoses and clamps from Camelback...

New coil next to original coil...

    New coils installed...
    20191103_115402.jpg

Thought that coolant was coming from lower hose, but now I see coolant all over...
    20191103_121221.jpg

Looks like the source is the thermostat housing...
    20191103_121213.jpg

Looks to me like it is from the housing (around the area where the nut/stud is barely in the shadow) and running down. Hard to say for sure though. I think I'll just order a new housing/gasket while I'm in there. What do you guys think?
