Best 6 ply all terrain?

currently have 265/75r16 Ko2s. Don’t do much off roading but need an all terrain for some boat ramps. Looking for a better riding 265/70r16 6 ply tire. Suggestions?

There are many solid options in all-terrain 6 ply tires depending on your needs. A few popular options are the Cooper Discoverer AT3 LT, Goodyear Trailrunner AT, Toyo Open Country or Goodyear Duratrac.

 

I think I’m narrowed down to hankooks or maybe the falcons, both seem good from the reviews

 

Thank you for your message. I apologize, I passed over the Falken Wildpeak AT 3W, it is one of the favorite tires on this forum. The Cooper would be a good choice as well. I'm assuming you are wanting a set of 4?

 

6 ply is a C load tire. I think there are only a couple made in that configuration. You will have much better luck finding something in an SL. And it should be plenty durable for what it sounds like you do.

 

I just had a set of BFG KO2's installed 265/70-17 Load Range C that I bought at Costco. They ride very good and the noise level is very low in. Not sure they are available in your size but you could always use it for an excuse to purchase new wheels with 17" rims.

 

Ya they are 10 ply for the 16”. I thought about the BFG rugged terrain, but I believe it’s a 4 ply

Stick to the Falkens.

I have standard load Cooper AT3 and have been very happy.

 

If I couldn't have found the KO2's in a 6 ply I would have probably went with the Cooper AT3 with the Falkens in the running.

 

Are the rugged terrains bad? I know the rugged trails were crap, but the terrain Is supposed to Be the improved version of the trails

 

Terrible reviews and feed back. The Rugged fails were terrible and this new gen is no different.

 

Why do you feel you need a 6ply/C rated tire?

 

Either 6 or i guess a SL would work. Just tired of the rough ride I get from load E

 

I don’t think you could go wrong with the Falken AT3W for what you’re doing. They are currently listed on Amazon and Walmart for $109. Discount Tire has always been good to me and should price match those prices.

 

Don't rule out P-metric ratings as well but yes going with the "C" vs "E" would give a much better ride. Do consider the Cooper AT3 4S or the LT "C" rated. Both available in your size.

 

My Rugged Terrains have been great. They came on my truck new and have 55k on them with lots of tread left. Rotated every 5k and the tread is still even on all 4. But i guess someone always has a bad experience with everything made. Just saying there are some that have good experiences.

 

Boat ramps??? Just stick with P.
