TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Anyone in here running the URD lightweight flywheel? If so, thoughts? Do you like it? How is the stall point now with a manual?

 

Is it unusual that my exhaust sounds much better when it’s cold out? It’s been getting below 50 lately and I can’t help but consume more gas.

 

This is my list so far. Let me no what else I should/need to do while motor is apart and out.

say, if youre doing an electric fan have you considered making a used lexus one work? when i do one ill use a lexus unit. 2 reasons- factory toyota part, and factory toyota part.

Yeah guy on here makes them. I dunno about electric fan option. I might just buy the kit. I forget who makes it.

Here's my timing chains parts list:

• Chain sub assembly: 13506-AD010
• Chain sub assembly: 13507-AD010 x2
• Larger Damper, chain vibration: 13561-AD010
• Smaller Damper, chain vibration: 13562-AD010 x2
• Slipper chain tensioner: 13559-AD010
• TENSIONER ASSY, CHAIN: 13540-AD011
• TENSIONER ASSY, CHAIN: 13550-AD010
• TENSIONER ASSY, CHAIN: 13560-AD010

Probably not going to change crank/idler sprockets. Still undecided on cam gear retards vs new cams from Kelford (probably the latter).

Probably a good idea to replace your supercharger silicone foam seal while tinkering in there (couldn't tell if you had this listed)

I've also ordered the idler pulley bearings mentioned in the OP.

Im running it with my 6spd and their stage 3 clutch. I like it alot, very streetable imo. I have stock sized tires though and 4.10s so if you have bigger tires, it will likely be a little easier to stall

 

While you got it apart, new belts.

 

I’m going to just be getting a master gasket kit from toyota. Going to replace crank bearings this week. My serp belt is pretty new only has like 5k on it. I also have a brand new knock sensor harness that’s going in. Nothing really wrong with mine but if you have ever had to do one they are a pain. Also got the 650 injectors to install. Almost forgot.

 

I'm pretty sure it is supposed to fit on the pulley rib profile though I may be wrong.

 

I wonder how it would be with all the light NST pulleys I'm getting... I have stock wheels and tires as well.

 

The urd lightweight steel flywheel drops 13lbs over stock. Sounds like all the pulley's including both crank pulleys will drop 4-6 additional pounds so by guestimation it will be around 30-50% of weight of the flywheel. It will rev quicker and be slightly easier to stall but the flywheel will make the biggest difference.

 

Also @12TRDTacoma, I ordered the whole set including the alt pulley and my previous order was successfully cancelled.

Anyone replace their serpentine belt (for the engine) with a SC?? After looking at what’s going on in the bay, looks like you have to remove the SC Tension pulley to get to the engine tension pulley yes????
