have you scraped around the drain holes?
that seems to be where my undercoating basically failed and i had no clue it was doing that

 

The K98 next to it atleast had a two stage-ish feel to it. The G43 was just super spongy, couldnt tell when it was gonna break.

My M1's 70 year old trigger is just as good as the nat'l match 2 stage in my AR. Crisp two stage action, right around 5 pounds.
