I dont mind cutting into a harness that I've made. I'd rather not cut into the trucks wiring if I can help it.

The splitter you linked would probably be a better option. Can you look a Post #76 in this thread and suggest where I'd put the splitter. (The unused USB connection is the USB data port.) I'm thinking I'd plug one of the splitters USB male connectors into the dual accessory plug and plug Cable A into the USB female end of the splitter. Where I'm having a problem is where would the extra male USB connector plug since I already have a 12V to 5V USB power adapter connected.

Put splitter above in the red circle. Red arrow goes to head unit. Then plug iPod into the appropriate connector on the twin USB plug. Then add constant USB power to the red plug of the splitter you added (mentioned above.)

I am obviously dumb as a box of rocks but I'm just not getting it. If I put the splitter into the red circle that you've drawn and plug the ipod into the unused USB of the dual USB in the upper left of the picture, that still leaves a dangling male USB from the splitter, doesnt it? I apologize for my confusion/stupidity.

Yes it does. That dangling USB needs to be plugged into a constant powered USB adapter. You wanted constant power to the iPod, even with ignition off (if I understood you correctly). That red end (dangling) allows you to inject an external constantly powered supply to the iPod, while keeping all the others switched with ignition. I thought that’s what you wanted anyway, maybe I got it wrong.

Nope. You got it right. I was just confused thinking I had the dangling cord. So I guess I could use the dc/dc converter from the OPs post since I didn't use it because I wanted fast charge so I substituted the dual output Quick Charge charger for the converter. I think I've got it now. Thanks for the help.

Maybe still a little confused. I plan to power the Quick Charger dual output charger with a constant 12V. Is there a way, short of splicing into the Quick Chargers output wiring, of doing what I want, using what I have. I would think I could use a 3 output Quick Charger somehow.

You could used a 3 output constant powered adapter. (If you can find one). Or use a USB power splitter to make one charge port, 2 ports. They look similar to the splitter posted above, but it would spit the power into 2 rather than split the power and data. Few things to remember. 1) Doing that you will not get full power to all ports. 2) many of these power adapters pull considerable power even when nothing is plugged in. So when not switched with the ignition, the risk of draining your battery over a few days / week is quite likely.

    It's always something, isnt it.

I was looking at this. The center output is Quick Charge and the other 2 are non fast charge. Maybe it will alleviate the concerns you spoke of.

An added bonus, if it even works, is it has an app that monitors the battery. And it somehow monitors where you parked. Probably all too good to be true. Hopefully its smart enough.

I've made a new schematic that I wanted to run by you before I connect it to my truck. I have connected it to the work bench and it works fine so far. Does this schematic look like it'll work to you? I'm worried about tying a hot +12VDC into the Entune radio but if you bless this setup, I'll trust your expertise.

See Post #92 for an updated schematic.

I'll be tying up the wiring at the 3 port charger and covering the M-F usb connections with the loom. Maybe even putting some hot glue across the M-F usb connections after I push the wiring through the hole in the center console. Speaking of that, I plan to leave the existing accessory port as it is in the center console and making a new 1" hole for the dual port usb if there is room to do that.

Anyway, i appreciate any input you can give me

The diagram is accurate, and should work. Only thing to be 100% sure of is having the MFM usb splitter round the right way. You should also double check the manufacturer wired that correctly with a meter, making sure the power from one male side does not go to the other male side.

I checked the voltage at the M-F-M splitter. When I have one of the male splitter usb connectors plugged into a hot +5VDC at an output of the 3 port USB power adapter, I get +5VDC at the other male USB of the splitter. They are obviously tied together. If I understand you correctly, that's not good.

What would you suggest? Should I cut the 5V wire on the male usb side of the splitter that goes to Cable "B" so only data goes to that connector. TIA.

Did you use the splitter suggestion in this post?
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...relocate-usb-port.510714/page-4#post-21534914

That should split the power and data according to the description.
But yes, the female end needs power and data, and 1 male end will be power and the other male end will be data. If you feed power back into the headunit bad things may happen, the cable needs to stop that. So if your cable has power to both male ends, you’ll need to stop that happening some how.

Yes, I'm using that M-F-M splitter.

This is getting deep. I am so much better following a schematic than directions, no matter how simple they seem. It looks to me that I need to cut the data lines out of the male USB end of the splitter that I have labeled "1". And, I need to cut the power lines out of the male USB end of the splitter that I have labeled "2". That way, the data and power will be steered correctly as the red power and green data lines show. Does that look right to you?

But what about Point 3 on my schematic? There is still +5VDC there going into the Entune radio through Cable "A" from the 3 port USB power adapter. Is that OK?

Edit: I went back and looked at the OPs post and see that I have Cable "A" wired correctly. It needs the +5VDC to power the original USB port in the dash which should be a fast charging port for me as it is for him.

Again, I apologize for the confusion but I want to get it right the first time.

Edit: I have updated the schematic here for my harness. The change is now there are 2 always on dual Quick Charge 3.0 USB adapters. The OEM USB connector on the dash wasn't fast charge and I want it to be. Also, the 4th Quick Charge 3.0 USB output goes to a wireless Quick Charge 3.0 magnetic mount that I've mounted on my dash next to the push to start button.

Your diagram is correct, and so is your edit. So point 3 (cable A) goes to the USB outlet on the dash, and cable B goes to headunit. Ie don’t worry about cable A.
You only need to cut the power lines in the USB connector that connects to cable B. You Can have all 4 wires going to the other 2 USB ports on the Y splitter, since the data lines are not connected in the charger anyway.
I’m surprised on that cable, should bitch / sent it back as not as advertised.

I went ahead and sliced the splitter cables with a razor blade. It turns out that one of them is power only and the other one is power and data. The power only one is thinner and has a piece or red heatshrink on it. The other one is thicker so that's the only one that I really had to mess with. I cut the power wires, covered the ends with heatshrink and wrapped it with electrical tape. It should be good to go now. I just need to install it. Goodness knows when that'll happen.

Anyway, thank you for all of your help. If you're ever around Pensacola, hit me up and I'll buy you a beer.

Edit: I went back and looked at your Post #11. That is not the splitter that I have. That one is F-M-F. Mine is M-F-M. The Amazon heading does say that both male ends have power lines and only one of them has data lines. It even shows the red piece of heatshrink that I spoke of.

I have my harness mostly installed. While pulling the male and female Axxess AX-TOYUSB connectors from the center console to the radio, I completely pulled one of the connectors off. The pins were still there but the plastic connector part is behind the dash somewhere. The other one was pulled apart somewhat as well. I just went ahead and ordered another of each and will replace them completely.

While I was installing the harness, I realized that I wasn't sure where to plug the Axxess AX-TOYUSB connectors in. It's probably easy if everything is stock but I've added the camera setup that uses the steering wheel MODE button to display the front and rear cams (RFCC TTG2 Car Camera Control Switch System for Toyota Touch 2/Entune). Anyway, there is so much stuff behind the radio now that I'm not entirely sure where to plug the Axxess AX-TOYUSB connectors in. Will someone please tell me where to plug them in? I don't think I've seen that in this thread. TIA.

For anyone that's interested, there is tons of room under the center console and beside the existing accessory plug. So much room that I left the original accessory plug installed and mounted this setup beside of it. I figured, why fool with it if I don't have too.

There is only one connector it fits, grey one in the back of the head unit. One of the connectors you bought goes to the head unit, the other to the connector you pulled out of that socket.

Thanks. I'll look for it when my replacement connectors come in.

That's what I was thinking but the RFCC TTG2 cam harness added so many new cables to the setup that i wanted to make doubly sure. Thanks again.

I am running my harness to a Blue Seas fuse box that I've installed under the hood. I used a QC 3.0 adapter instead of the hard wire power cord that was recommended by the OP because I want fast charging. The hardwire power cord is 3A so I was thinking I'd use a 5A fuse. Can anyone recommend what size fuse I would want to use with this harness?
