Funny you say that. I washed the engine bay on the civic and the ranger i had years ago.
I covered all electronics and everything.

On the civic, the tach stopped working and on the ranger the starter shit the bed next day after washing the engine.

From now on i will just not wash my engine, unless its completely necessary .

 

You can. Then again, since you can walk across the Rio Grande in most places, you could drive across it without a snorkel also.

There shouldn't be any oil from the tech that would be noticeable on the ground after a rinse . You might be leaking something a little . Take a good look , crawl under too . Maybe timing chain cover.
