Exactly. I think even the frame rails flex left and right in relation to each other. This is most likely one of those rabbit holes you Chase all the way back to a fully boxed frame. Or further

Get an R1 motor and weld up a buggy with long travel Kings. We beat everything up the hill with that machine.

If you are gonna go hard I would recommend this solution.
Truth... OEM anything won't get you there. Been there, done that, got a t shirt.

    No.

Bumper is solid mounted to the frame, core support is rubber mounted with the rest of the body. Whatever you build would need to be rubber mounted if it is tied into the cab, unless you solid mount the cab too.

Bumpers don't really move, it's the cab moving in relation to the bumper that people usually notice. It's why you need to leave a little gap.

So does having a heavy steel winch bumper exasperate this problem or it irrelevant to it happening?

does the frame twist less or more with a steel winch bumper, causing less or more movement of the resilient mounted structure?

    Check My Sig.
I put mine under the bed on the passenger side just behind the cab when I did my frame boxing kit.

I tried to find a pic. I'm horrible at documentation when working.

All of the posts saying to "Weld on an engine cage" are good for offroad only trucks. If you were to get in an accident with the whole front inner structure changed, I'd be worried about multiple things. Overall safety, air bag deployment will be altered, no body shop will want to work on your truck, etc. JMHO.

Those questions are above my pay grade.

I'm no engineer, but I would say it more or less doesn't matter. The issue is weak sheet metal, combined with vibrations and abuse from rough driving. I don't think any differences in how the frame acts with or without a aftermarket bumper will make much of a difference.

If you're using the truck beyond it's design capacity, you're going to run into these challenges. If your worried about accident safety and body shops, maybe reconsider how you use your $40k truck. :notsure: At some point, you need to decide if you have a modified daily for occasional offroading, or a more dedicated wheeling rig.

Or sell it and buy a cheaper, dedicated wheeling rig. I've cracked/broken way more shit on my rig than just the core support, and have continued to fix it/modify it/beat on it offroad, but not sure I would want to do that to such a new rig.

I agree, this is still my daily.

I have been doing a bunch of research and i think i will be doing some sort of hybrid. You can buy individual components of the core support and it is really only one piece that is breaking. (Part 8 in the diagram)

    53029-04010 LEFT
    53028-04010 RIGHT

I think i am going to buy these, reinforce on a bench, cut the old out and BOLT these in. that way they are serviceable. Additionally the upper and lower tie bars will be boxed and gusseted. I realize this will lead to weaker points breaking so this plan is not 100% finalized but i think i am on the right path
