When a bottle of Scotch shows the year a distillery was established, that's not the year they started distilling, it's the year they got caught and started paying taxes.

I forget where I heard that, but I think it was the brand ambassador for Bunnahabhain. Equal parts funny and true.

Really cool story. Sounds like a lot of fun. I'll have to do a Scotland trip soon.

Unrelated, but you weren't on the Audi forum "Audizine", by chance, were you? Not sure what seems so familiar.

It was mostly a beer night (some of my buddies are big beer nerds), but I crashed with a little whiskey.

This was scored by @Misplaced Nebraskan and bequeathed to me. I think once he opens his, hell regret not keeping both bottles.

I dig it. A tad dry, but otherwise sweet, with some oak notes.
    20191102_210805.jpg

Then I offered up this. Of all of the whiskey I've tried, I still stand by this being my all time favorite. From this particular bottle, I think I've only had four pours. I only drink it with friends and only to celebrate. My buddy Ryan is expecting his second child any day, so I figured it was a good occasion.

Picked up a 1792 single barrel. I think I might actually prefer the BiB. Full proof is still a notch up though.
I dunno, pretty fucked up at this point to really be putting out any judgement lol.

UFC fight going, almost to main ticket.

It was won by a friend in a cost plus shipping group a couple years back and he gifted it to me randomly one day. I found it on my porch.

You can buy them online from retailers depending on your state.

Found a bottle of EH Taylor Barrel proof today! 20191103_180708.jpg

Also if any of you guys are in the Prescott area stop by a bar called The Point. It's a speakeasy style establishment that has a great whisky selection. I had this flight last night and finished the night with a pour of George T. Stagg. 20191102_175313.jpg

So one of the guys brought this to deer camp last week and busted it out around the campfire. Gotta say it was really good, but I did have one hell of a headache the next morning.

The bottle pictured is the Small Batch, which is slightly different from Small Batch Select. SBS would cost around $55. The regular Small Batch a little less.

The Small Batch uses 4 of the 10 Four Roses recipes, while the Small Batch Select uses 6 of them. SBS is slightly higher proof, too (104 vs 90). It seems like a really tiny slot they're trying to stuff the SBS in to (between Small Batch and Single Barrel), but it is good bourbon. I'd still take OF 1920 for the money, but the SBS is no slouch.
