for starters, a 2005 vehicles also had an ECU computer, unless it’s a 2005 Skoda or something. It would also be destroyed by a backwards battery.

Secondly, Vehicles are actually much simpler these days. If you look at a new Tacoma, there is actually 1/2 the stuff under the hood as there is in any older car. Things have been consolidated. Wiring the battery in reverse is a major mistake that really has nothing to do with complexity.

Its like putting diesel in the truck and then saying “damn vehicles are so complex”.

Any 2020 vehicle is 40X more reliable than any 2005 vehicle ever was, truthfully. Cars have gotten better. The old ones were shite, and rusted out.

Yeah i didn't sit down and guess any currents. At that point internal battery resistance is the only real limiting factor...and not much of one.

Sorry for your mishap OP, you were trying to do right, but chit happens even with the best intentions. Now the hard part is to pick yourself right up and use it as a valuable learning lesson.

That said, TW has once again proven its value by coming quickly to aid a fellow Tacoma owner in distress. And even though some of the humor that goes along with it may appear out of line to some, it helps to thaw out the brain after a traumatic experience freezes it and the solution (and cause) begins to present itself.

Please keep us posted and best of luck

Without knowing how you wired your setup, you would have to really wire it up in a goofy manner to get double voltage. Hopefully if your switch does a worst-case scenario you get a parallel circuit, so you get double amp-hours at the same voltage - which is a no-problem situation. I cant imagine a way where you would get a serial circuit which would give you the 24V output.
