Changed the battery in my 2017 Tacoma. Everything went wrong.

When you reverse polarity on a 1998 Honda Civic, it only blows the main fuse. A $4 part and easy to change. Wish all vehicles were this simple. 3rd gen taco probably needs a lot more. Good luck OP.

What a shit deal for OP. Obviously he knows better and this was a genuine screw up on his part. If anything can be taken away from this, it's one thing: attention to detail.

Take your time and double check your work with critical systems where a failure means more than just a "whoops"

You think you’re joking but have you seen the quality of military aviation maintenance? It’s scary sometimes.

I put 15W40 into a ZF Auto one time working on autopilot. Luckily, I realized my mistake before I started the engine and dumped it flushed it twice and then filled it with ATF. That would have been costly. Hope your issues are minor and easily repaired OP.

The outcome is as follows: he made a mistake and is getting it rectified. We all make mistakes. Some reverse polarity and learn a lesson and some paint their cars an ugly color and never learn from it. I hope that the OP gets good news about his truck and I hope that you get a pair of glasses so you may see the error of your ways. I say this for your own benefit and because I care.

my 97 subaru impreza did the same thing.. except it was a $30 main fuse.. Had to jump start it with really old jumpers that my dad "fixed" but didn't keep the color orientation on the clamps the same (pretty sure he was drunk when he fixed it)..

I saw something like this happen with a golf cart. The battery exploded when they put it in backwards and covered my brother in law and his buddy with acid. Both ran for the showers at a camp ground we were at. It melted their swim trunks. It was a potentially dangerous situation but was otherwise funny later on seeing that both of these guys are mechanically inclined. We all make mistakes.
