OVTune 3.5L Tacoma Supercharger and Twin Turbo Systems

Harrop actually uses a screw type TVS blower, not roots. A screw type is significantly more efficient, produces more boost, and the discharge air is significantly cooler as well. So it's a win all around in comparison to an old roots style blower.

EDIt: They make both - but let's hope they're not developing a NEW roots style setup when it could just as easily be a screw type.

 

I love that roots style whine! Hope its cheaper than the Tundra kit they have, not sure I can justify 11-12k especially once that gets converted to Canadian Pesos

 

The tundra one has almost no whine at all.

Well it makes some whine at part throttle but full throttle no real whining. But I think it's just running low boost its not working real hard. The same blower on other cars scream. But on the tundra boost is very low.

That's too bad. Would you say Harrop is quieter than the Magnuson one for the Tundra?

 

Harrop isn’t 100% out of nowhere. They’ve been running the 1900tvs on the 3.5L 2GR that’s in the Lotus. As another member pointed out Magnusson will be using the same rotor pack on their kit. I am curious to see the difference between the kits.

 

I know they have had the lotus kit. I am saying the TACOMA kit came out of nowhere. I believe they are working with HP tuners. regardless, I am sticking with OV's maps as I believe he has put a lot more time and effort into the tuning.

 

Supercharger whine is cool. I would like that

I hope they do sell the twin screw and not a root type. Only other vendor that sells the twin screw for us Toyotas is URD. Twin screw is the way to go IMO.

I think we are probably quite a long way away from seeing any TTs on the market. It's tough because I really like the idea of TTs especially for my driving style, but I really don't think I will be able to hold out long enough for them. I want boost sooner than later.
