Either way you’re fine. There’s two points of grounding (the Horn bracket, tand the horn connector) and you only need one.

OK - for those looking for 2nd Gen mounting options (other than #1714 page 86)- my photos are below. This is Setup #3. No brackets from Tyler. From right to left facing the engine, #1 horn is mounted where one of the original horns was. #2 horn is mounted on the right side of the hood clasp shroud, using the existing hole. Upgraded the M6 bolt to something abit longer. #3 Horn is the same as #2 but on the left side of this shroud. Again - using a new longer M6 bolt. #4 horn needed a new mounting hole drilled in the radiator sub-frame (?), and the top of the bracket cut off in order not to interfere with the grill when re-installing the grill. Needed to remove some bracket paint here and there, of the brackets to good grounding, and painted some areas where Tyler had prepped them for grounding. Now just wire clean up time. They sound great! IMG_20191103_0921222.jpg

Finally finished and the horns are Awesome!!!

I ended up bending the drive side horns towards the front and that cleared the transmission cooler so all is good!

I didn’t need to remove the front grille entirely. After undoing the screws and the two plastic retaining things, I just pulled it out enough to get a bit more room to work.

Thanks for an awesome product Tyler. If folks are on the fence just get these!!!!

Anybody else have the intermittent issue where your horn don’t work unless the truck is on? I hear the relay clicking but no noise. Works with no problems with truck on. Grounds are all good and battery is fairly new.

That’s not supposed to happen. Federal law requires the Horn to be functional even if the vehicle is off. Can you Take a test light or a multimeter and test for 12v at the horn trigger?

Ok will try to do it when it acts up again. Which one are you considering the trigger? The oem horn output or the yellow wire from the relay?

The trigger wire is the stock horn wire on the factory harness. Test for constant 12v when the horn is pushed.

I got the install done this weekend. One thing I'm surprised at is the lack of power. It isn't noticably louder than the stock horns. Obviously you have the train horn sound, but not the power. This doesn't make any sense to me, as there are now 4 quality horns where before there were 2 dinky horns. My great grandma has a 1960 El Dorado and those 2 horns will make you jump out of your shoes. Is there something I may have inadvertantly done in the install process to reduce the amount of power being supplied to the horns? Is this even possible? I'm decent at electrical work, but far from an expert, so this may even be a stupid question.

I've checked and rechecked everything and it's all in order and all horns are functional. The only differences I've made is that I have a blue sea fuse block. So I removed the fused portion of the hot wire from the relay, and just connected that wire directly from the relay to the hot portion on the blue sea fuse block, and of course the ground from the relay to the ground portion of the fuse block then popped the 25 fuse into the blue sea block. I can't see how that would affect power however.

    Thanks ahead of time y'all!

Try my harness independent of any other wiring to eliminate any other issues. The 1960 El Dorado used very different horns than the 80’s to 90’s GM sedans they are from.

Your harness meaning the black device on the red wire in between the relay and battery connection with the 25 amp fuse in it? Is that just a fuse or are there other compononents in it?

    It's just a fuse holder.

Phew. Ok I think everything is connected correctly then. Perhaps it's my perception due to the much deeper tone of the new horns. Either way, solid work on building these, and your support here on the forums is phenomenal.

I used this 10' roll of 3/8" loom, had maybe 2 inches left over. See my install pic quoted above.
