It would be a blood bath. The tv channels would be changed at halftime, at BEST.

No...thats why picking the conference champions is a bad idea.


In theory, it should work. But, theories dont always pan out.


We all know that CFB is chaotic at times. Like in 2019 when one of our beloved stat lovers lost his mind when LSU lost to Alabama twice. Once as the number 1 team in the country and then again for the national title.


Shits crazy.

 

Still think we need a top 6. 1 and 2 bye week while 3 takes on 6 and 4 takes on 5.

 

So... my 6 team idea what what I felt would be the best scenario given our current environment.

My perfect world idea would be to eliminate our current environment... restructure the teams into "Regions" akin to NFL divisions... have the NCAA make a uniform scheduling scheme were all teams play their "regional" opponents every year and have a rotating schedule of other regions. Determine your regional champion either by a regular season criteria or have a playoff. Add a wild card or three... then use the current bowl system as playoff games.

Yes... you'll occasionally get a crappy region sneaking in... but like pro sports it usually works out to the best teams playing for a championship.

In the end... zero human involvement determines the outcome.

But we live in the real world.

Best case is to splinter the power 5 into FBS 1a and have the group of 5 conferences as FBS 1b. All schools must play within their tier to be playoff eligible. No more weak schedule excuses. And make the league determine scheduling... no more excuses there either.

 

The national title claim was stupid, but UCF for several years in a row would have clowned many top tier schools.

LOL, the nil style split. Not gonna happen but not bad. I think even under the current though if you get down to the top 6 it would be hard not to have the best 4 teams in there lol.
