I think this is my reality check to finally be an 'overlander' :jerkoff: as opposed to an 'off roader' :benchpress:

Didn’t you do this after cutting off the bump stops?

If you're worried about the air bag deployment stuff, just grab an ARB bumper, that stuff is tested/designed with it in mind, so it should all be good even if you completely overhaul the core support with an engine cage. But that's my take on it, being a mall crawler and all...

LOL. Yeah, go over to the other side where youll find a whole lot of problems other than cracks in the frame etc. Ill keep my 10k extra and deal with the smaller problems that Toyota offers. Thanks, but no thanks!

    I blame swaybars !!
I don’t have one wheel pretty hard and no cracks as of...yet.

that sucks though I’m gonna keep a eye on things and be more aware of what I’m up too.

It was just a sarcastic remark I have nothing constructive to contribute.

But the beers have me thinking since a sway bar links the suspension together in a way it’s always working against opposing forces therefore multiplying force/pressure on other areas possibly.:notsure:

Has anyone measured a first gen? I stuck my caliper in a few places and got ~1.5mm on the core support, which works out to 16 ga.

I bet this thin metal is the result of mpg requirements as much as anything else.

This is the truth brother. Always has been always will be. Ford > Toyota, all day every day. It’s the USA steel.

FYI: All Fords are 142.6% more reliable than the best Toyota ever built, according to Roman at TFL. Especially my 1987 Aerostar. That was a beaut.

but don’t take if from me:

Anyone know if you can see these cracks without taking the bumper off? Looking into the wheel well? Trying to check on mine. Thanks!

If you come up with an east diy kit to relocate it on rear passenger side frame ill be all over it. Bonus points if a group 31 battery will fit

Afraid to check mine. Sine I have to grease my ES bushings and torque the bolt to factory specs, I will close my eyes...

They don’t need to be greased. Torquing is a good idea though but not sure what the factory specs are with anymore with those bushings
