Damn halfway there - Debating on waiting for the BF friday. I think I might go with the HC no swing out and then get the removable hitchgate swingout on that craigslist or FB special
You have that many fingers and toes?

    Shots fired

    But you still can't read?

That's not how this works ERIC. Ok let's talk this out. Why do you want a swingout? How will it benefit you? Let's pros and cons this bitch.

order of shit I care about
    1. Mount my spare in an easy accessible place
    2. Accessory items such as fold down table for additional work / cook space
    3. Mount additional items such as rotopax / Jerry Can

    Con

    1. Added weight
    2. Don't always need to have the spare on, and I am already a long bed
    3. Cost
    4. I hate making lists

Bear in mind I'm just playing devils advocate, in order to make you do some soul searching here Eric.

Having the spare there is quite handy, I'll admit that. Though personally I only carry a spare on a trip, and have AAA for around town.

Accessories, do you actually need them? How frequently are you wishing you had the additional real estate vs a folding 2'x4' table? I will admit the swingout table is handy AF for having a grill on. This also goes in line with rotopax/jerry can. Do you need them? I see a lot of people carrying fuel but most people really don't need it if you're smart about when you top off. Though it is nice peace of mind in some places.

The weight does suck, but what's also annoying AF is having to open the swingout every time you wanna get in the bed. I didn't think it was that bad until I got rid of mine. It also makes it more challenging if you want to haul something long, like a kayak or something.

Lists are fun. And again I'm not trying to discourage you at all. But people (myself definitely included) buy a swingout thinking they need it and end up annoyed by it. I can think of 3 people right off the bat, and one for sure that's already ditched it.

You just supported my case for hitchgate or ultraswing.

    See but you can't read....
So you're thinking when you want a spare out back, just put it on as needed? Not roll around with the hitchgate on all the time?

Ok it's not such a bad plan after all. And if you don't like the hitch gate you can sell it.

Lmao...it's an idea...not a great one. I don't need a swing out. Nice to have on occasion. But not all the time. Especially as a LB. I agree with all your points. Hence why I liked the idea of the hitchgate as an as needed item. Especially if I got it for cheap

It seems to me like you're leaning no swingout with option of getting a hitchgate later on vs swingout.

Question for both of you, wouldn’t the hitch gate bounce/move around a lot offroad?

I want my spare out of the bed. I haul crap all the time and between the toolbox and spare I wanted one less thing to pull out. Opening it to open the tailgate doesn't bother me. I had a bronco a while ago.
