Id be torn...depends on outside temps...If it was warm then I'd prob just leave it. If it was cold over night--below 40 Id try to salvage...eventhough you arent going to get much meat off it. Ive never lost one over night...

The hinds would be fine, they won’t be contaminated. I would be worried about spoilage from retained heat more than coyote saliva.

Remove the rear legs and the rump, the rear portion of the back straps might be good too.

Can’t believe that would even come to mind. All the deer out there and you want to salvage one that’s half eaten? Come on. Wtf is wrong with people.

Hopefully there was no debating whether or not you should harvest this... Darwin is going to come knocking if you do.

I'd still leave it, the meat isn't going to waste with other animals eating it. I'd count it against one of my tags if I shot, killed and couldn't recover a deer.

Here's a little more to my rant, and you see, here's the kicker to the whole situation... tonight he asked if I'd help him butcher it!

And, I just picked the last burrs out of my Sitka Fanatic jacket & bibs while sitting in my stand that night. I had a couple from walking through a little brush to get my buck 2 weeks before. And while tracking his deer with him I actually thought "this better be a fat doe like you're saying". The little shit stood up in an open field and limped off when we got through the woods and I thought "Are you f*cking kidding me?"

I know we've all shot smaller deer than we thought... but it isn't worth the tag after a coyote drooled all over it (and inside it), then you gut and skin it, touching everything.

I'm assuming that's all sarcasm, but if not, I am just fine cleaning my deer that didn't get chewed on my a coyote. And plenty fine peeling skulls. Mine is here:

Oh ok I guess I misunderstood your message. That might be a little gory for lesser seasoned folks on here, I’m not sure why you felt the need to post carcasses on a truck forum lol. Feel free to PM me your kills though, I love a good meat harvest. My first deer I shot half it’s brain out with a .270 and it kept running for a good two minutes with half a head.
