Can the techstream be used on any Tacoma or is it registered to a specific VIN number

It can be used on any Tacoma, any Toyota/Lexus model for that matter.

You need the TS program (see below) and an adapter. I'm using a Tactrix adapter since it is used to flash the ECU, but less expensive ones can be used for simple customizations.

Those are pretty good videos. Is there a list/graphic somewhere of the available menus for the Tacomas?

Are you talking about ECU functions or available setting customizations?

For functions, it depends what model Taco and options.

For customizations, here is an old list (attached). There is one toward the back of your owners manual.

Yes. You just have to know the sensor IDs or have a separate tool that can scan them. So, write down the current set and the IDs of any new ones that you buy. TS can change the IDs in the ECU. Position is not important. The Reset button on the dash takes care of that.

Thanks a lot! That’s helpful. I’m still waiting on my truck, and I forgot the options were in the manual the same way in my 4Runner. I wonder if there is a module or something that can be added for the window roll down from the fob. Always made it easy getting in on hot days.
