It was more the quoted portion of his original post that needed to be edited out. Nothing that anyone has posted in response.

July 13th was 7 years for me. When I first got sober, one month seemed impossible! God's doing for me what I could never do for myself. Keep on keeping on sober people, one day at a time!

No need to worry... now... I say this while feeling hypocritical...

Because I posted a tell all thread 2 months ago...

Truth be told with everything that was going on I did not feel like an adequate role model for anyone... and I deleted my thread.
On a positive note you have inspired me to undelete this thread... and as a Moderator I can ... but... I have a mountain of deletes to sort through 1st.

So much more of this goes on around all of us that is rarely seen or heard. I’ve had my alcohol and everything else years off and on for as long as I can remember due to PTSD etc etc. 33 months into sobriety this time around. You never know who you might help just by mentioning anything like this post. EXAMPLE........... As I shot the shit with the guy who sold me my TRD PRO I had no idea the affect I was having on him. Months later he pulls me to the side at the dealer to tell me this.............. He had a severe drinking and drug problem and that he now had about a month sober. After selling me the truck I bought , he moved into a sober living house and ditched the bottle and the dope. What changed ??????? I just happened to be the guy he approached to sell a vehicle to and somehow during our several days of bullshitting I had mentioned I had over 2 years sober. He took whatever I told him to heart and ended up probably saving his life. We never know how we affect others just being us , so it is pretty badass knowing that these real life stories being told truly do help others at times.

    I totally get this.^^
I quit drinking (and a few other things) at a pretty young age (23). Back then, all I wanted to do was get as drunk as possible as often as possible. That was it. Didn't really care about anything else.
When I quit I was like, "what the hell am I gonna do now?" I honestly thought that there was nothing else to do. I was in a constant state of being pissed off. Luckily, it fades and life becomes clearer.
Years later, it's not even a thought anymore.
Keep up the good work, folks. It's definitely worth it!

The “how do I have fun now” thing that hits hard when you first get sober. LOLOL. I still have people ask all the time how do I have fun going to the bars and running around all the time sober. EASY!!! I enjoy life and I drink about 500 gallons of Diet Coke every week.

I always carry a can around. I just replaced the brand of can I drink out of. All addicts just trade one addiction for another. It’s just how we’re wired. You can be addicted to anything to fulfill that need. Addict yourself to work, money, your truck etc etc etc.

It does get easier each day. I miss drinking a cold beer after a long day,
but realize that’s impossible. I just cant drink like a normal person. Life is so much better this way, so why risk a relapse.

That was my problem. I can’t drink just one beer, never could. If I bought a 12 pack or 18 pack I thought I had to drink them all. I respect the people who can control it. Took me 15 years to realize I can’t. All or none, I choose none. 8 years in December here we come!!!

I stepped out on a limb because “non alcoholic” beer has alcohol in it , until recently. Heineken makes a true ZERO beer that doesn’t have a single drop of alcohol in it. I have 1 or 3 of those if I have friends over for a cookout or bonfire. Yes, there’s a risk because it tastes just like beer , so I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who can’t be around alcohol at all. Few bars carry it unfortunately, but when they do I order 1. That keeps me from having to answer “why don’t you drink” all fucking night from 50 people. Lmao
