Hey I am a new owner of a 2018 Toyota Tacoma. V6 non 4x4. I am looking to lift it not extreme but probably 3 inch lift or leveling kit. First thing is I’m buying new tires. What do you all recommend for tires? All terrain preferably and what is a good size so that my truck doesn’t rub or when I get the lift done it doesn’t have to cut in to anything in to my truck to do so? Also if I get a bigger tire than I have now do I have to get a bigger rim size to fit or no?

A new truck owner as well. Sorry if I sound like a dumbass. Thanks for any help in advance.

265-75R16 will fit on stock wheels. That is the largest tire that will not rub without a lift.

Start reading the forum posts for lift kits for research.

In two weeks I am installing OME 885 coils in Bilstein 5100s front and rear with 2 inch add a leafs in the rear. DO NOT get a spacer lift kit !!!!

If your not off-roading, just grab a cheap 2/1 spacer/block lift. Anything higher will wear out suspension parts very quickly.

Not completely true. 255/85R16 (33"x10" tire; the Toyo MT measures 33.5"x10.25" so less than 0.25" narrower than a 265 tire and 2.0" taller) and its other wheel size variants will fit stock Offroad. Caveat being the wheel needs to be the same spec or near the same spec to the stock wheel. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-skinny-on-skinny-tires.529656/ I am running this size on the stock OR wheels and love it.

OP, spacer lifts are fine if you aren't taking your truck through anything particularly rough (really offroad/crawling). My old Chevy ran a spacer lift for 100k+ miles which included playing in the mud and mild off road trails. Never once had a problem. As with anything buy quality. There are some "suspension" lift options similar in price to a spacer lift; in which case the suspension (coil over lift, strut lift, what ever you want to call it lift). Bilstein 5100s can be found for a good price usually.

The OME kit I run came in at near the same price as piecing together a Bilstein 5100 lift and it was one purchase and came with everything I needed. Tip if you are new to this site, if you want to search for a topic, use google and put tacomaworld at the beginning of the search. Ex: Google: tacomaworld bilstein 5100 lift; works better than the internal search engine here IMO.

I recommend you stay stock, save your money and invest it into a tax deductible IRA fund

In before someone tells you to use the search feature and links you to a 2596 pg thread where most of it is a discussion of what kind of beer they like.

I did a 2" front spacer lift and a 1.5" rear block lift with 5100 shocks on the rear. It's a bit harsher but not bad, rides a lot better with some weight in the back. Still on stock tires though.

    4x2.

Maxtrac spindle lift. Starts at 4 inch.

I added Bilsteins , and stuffed 295/70/17 Nitto ridge grapplers on her.

Minor rubbing. But I did a little chop, and we are perfect.

Good point on the skinnys... I didn't mention them since there are only a limited selection of manufacturers and they are only LT rated versions.

Well, the first thing is... if you can install it yourself or have someone show you you’re gonna be ahead. Dealership quoted me like 1500$ to install a spacer lift (I don’t like working on my own stuff anymore. Lazy.) I spent 780$ on Bilstein 5100’s, 2887 springs, and an add a leaf kit, and an extra cut off wheel I think. Couple hours later I had a quality 2” suspension lift.

Why 2”? Because I think keeping axle geometry close to stock is more beneficial in the long run on an IFS vehicle. I’ve had a truck on 42” tires before with 7” of lift and it’s a pain to keep up with. Things wear out fast and break.

255/85/16 fit fine. I got maxxis bighorns because people want stupid money for the same size in other brands.

I wheel it here in Alaska in stuff that would probably horrify most new truck owners. Does fine.

Which add a leaf did you go with and did you keep the overload spring from the OE pack?

have you driven in any snow on those Maxxis tires yet?
