    Hey Gang,

Just thought I'd post to gain some feedback.

My husband and I have been sleeping in a full-wave kingsize waterbed for the past 15+ years. I absolutely LOVED that thing!! Last Sunday, we discovered some water under the mattress. A slow leak that could've been there for a long time. We're ready to change to a regular bed, paint the room, and get new furniture in there also. A complete re-do (cept the carpet).

We went out last night for the first time to poke around looking at mattresses. The sealy's, Serta's, Simmons, and even the Select comforts. At this point -we liked the Simmons beauty rest the best so far but we're not sealed on anything yet. The Select Comforts were neat - but we're swaying away from that due to the 'separation' in the middle (we like to cuddle ;)).

But seriously...I wanna hear about the long-term comments. What type of mattress do you have? How long have you had it? Is it *holding up* to what you'd expect? Do you like it.... any feedback would be great.
Any customer service issues? Warrantee issues?
We're looking to buy a king sized bed and a soft (but not too soft) kinda bed.

    Thanks ahead of time!!
Right now, we're sleeping in a queen sized standard bed. Not the best but definately something to get used to after sleeping in a full wave waterbed.

Looks like the other Tacoma modifications I wanted will have to wait...the exhaust is a GO!!!

A couple of years ago we switched from waterbed to a regular bed. I had the waterbed for about 10 years and it was 75% motionless. I just got tired of picking myself up over a 2x10 to get out of bed. We found a Spring Air mattress we liked. It's not much to do as far as matress's go. Does not have the hugh pillow top, but it is beefed up alittle. I forgot the matress style name but it does not matter because matress companies change the name of the matress in different area's to keep people from comparision shopping. We bought it from Rhodes Funiture and they went out of business a couple of days after we got it. Didn't see that coming.

As much as I liked our waterbed, I'm still glad we switched.

We have King size. Both the old waterbed and regular. My wife and I remark on how both our parents have always had full size bed.

Stay away from the select comfort beds! We made the mistake of getting one, we had nothing but problems from day one. I should've realized our mistake the day they delivered the bed. It was in boxes and had to be assembled.

We ended up going to Mattress Discounters and bought a Stearns and Foster. I was pushing for the Beautyrest Black, but I think we made a good choice. The bed we got is almost 40" off the floor, the mattress itself is almost 22".

ive got a wicked sealy posturpedic (sp?) and its been a damn workhorse. Ive definetly put it thru its paces and it still has the same support as the first time i brought it home. its a queen sized bed and sometimes just wished i had bought the king. im not huge or anything (165lbs) but have yet to find the bed sinking in the spot i lay on. ive had it for 3 years now.

My wife and I bought a King size Simmons Comforpedic mattress earlier this year... It's the one with the memory foam. I absolutely love it! I smashed a vertebrae a few years back, and this thing is awesome for my back, plus I sleep like a log on it.

Yeah, they definitely take a week or two to get used to, but I don't know if I can go back to a regular mattress after sleeping on a memory foam mattress for the last 8 months.

OH the Westin Heavenly bed...it is named appropriately! I can't remeber what kind it is though. I looked it up once long ago.

You need or want a king waterbed frame? FREE if you come and pick it up.

It's a great frame - just 15+ years old. Has drawers underneath and a nice headboard. Needs refinished in a couple spots on the headboard, side bolster on the one side is tore up and needs refinished, and the plywood has water damage. Heater is only 5 years old and still works. No bladder.

My wife and I bought a memory foam mattress from Wal-Mart. It was around $400 for a 12" thick one. Sheets fit kinda tight being as it's so thick and seems a hair bigger than a normal queen, but other than that it's great! She's had 2 back surgeries, and my lower back hurts by the end of the day. My legs and knees usually hurt when I sleep too so I toss and turn or get this leg twitch thing as I'm falling asleep. Within a week of owning the new mattress my wife said my leg-twitch had stopped, and another week after that our back pain was gone! I desribe it as a "soft rock" because you could bounce a quarter off it it's so firm, but once you lay in one place long enough for it to warm up it contours to your body. My biggest thing is the edges soften so if an arm or leg hangs off you don't get the edge of a normal mattress digging into pressure points. Same thing if you lay funny you don't get spring coils digging in either. It's one uniform surface and someone can jump on the bed while the other sleeps and not wake them! (Like the TV commercials, but cost 1/2 to 1/3 as much.)

It came in a duffel bag that I had to cut open and let it inflate, and they sell an 8" thick one for about half as much.

We've had it several months now and have no complaints. No more waking up feeling like we were hit by a truck.

I'm with the medic. I'm at work but I think mines the same but in a king. Pillowtop high off the floor, easy to roll in and out of. Had it for 12 years before much sagging. Total of 16 now. Need to upgrade though. Used to flip it often. We also went from a full wave waterbed and have no regrets.

The one we got from Wal-Mart is more or less the same as a tempurpedic. lol Except that it cost $400 instead of $1,000-$2,000. :D
