Thank You for the add. Pedal Commander?

I am researching the product "Pedal Commander". I looked at the tutorial about it and installation is easy.
My question is, does anybody have one and what are the pros and cons about it. Is it worth the money? Does it only work on certain year Tacoma's?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Welcome! I had it for my 07 6 speed, and what I would say is it's nice for an auto, but not worth it for a 6 speed. Also, it only changes throttle response, not power. Some people think it's supposed to act like a performance chip. I wouldn't probably pay full price, but a lot of them come up for sale used here. That's how I got mine.

 

Welcome! and pedal commander is literally just plug and play. Makes the throttle input more sensitive so you don't get the stock ecu lag. It is a hit or miss with some folks. Some think it's worth the money, some think it isn't. The price tag is about half of an OVtune and satisfaction would probably be just about the same. Really depends on what you are looking to get out of it. Want more response when pressing the throttle? get the commander. Want some tuning options depending on octanes, shifting patterns, throttle response, etc.? Save up for OVtune.

Also read the Amazon reviews, 169 reviews on the tacoma specific pedal commander. I'd probably read through all the one, two, three, and four star reviews just to get a good picture of what the good vs bad is.

Welcome to TW. I have one on my 15. I'm not sure it was worth the cash. It seemed cool at the time. City +2 seems to be the sweet spot for me and makes the truck a little more responsive. I usually keep it on eco mode for all the stop lights to and from work. I'm not sure that actually saves any gas, but it just seems easier and smoother with slow drivers and red lights.

I just installed one today on my 2018 and feel it's worth every penny.
It doesnt add horsepower, it adds driveability.

Instead of having to use 3 inches of gas pedal travel to simply pull out at a traffic light, I only need 1" of pedal input.

It honestly should have left the factory this way. It would have prevented alot of online bitching.

It actually seems to help a bit with the shifting... and almost feels like the ECT button is on when it's not. When the ECT button IS on, it's that much better.

I just ordered another ECT always on module today... and I feel the combination of Pedal Commander and ECT being on will make my truck what it should have been all along. A pleasure to drive.

Also worth noting... there are some negative feedback replies on Amazon. I think those negative replies may be related to counterfeit products being sold on Amazon.
Buy directly from Pedal Commander to be sure you are getting a genuine product. The price is the same ($299) and with free shipping... so there is zero benefit by ordering from Amazon.

I mounted mine to the left of the start button.
The Bluetooth app is awesome too. (see screenshot)

 

Heres a copy n paste of a reply I received from Pedal Commander regarding a few of the complaints Ive read online:

As long as You purchase from and authorized reseller and follow the instructions for installation you will not receive any issued. Also, to avoid any possible issues, we recommend changing the modes of the PC unit ( Eco, City, Sport, or Sport+) while your foot is off the accelerator or while cruise control is disengaged. By doing this, it will prevent any CEL or EPC lights coming on and putting your vehicle into limp mode. Each of our modes has different signal strengths so we say to do this as a preventative measure."
